Scott Embry’s Friday Esperance Preview Posted on December 4, 2025December 4, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HIGHLAND JEUNEY had her first start for new trainer Gary Burger and raced wide throughout before being swamped by Vain Universe over the concluding stages. That was first-up, no trial at 1300m and she’ll be even better suited second-up at 1400m. Looks very winnable for her. REIGN IN THE CASH is mid-prep coming across from South Australia and like all of David Page’s horses went well at the opening meeting into fourth in the same race. Missed to kick and so they’ve made a stack of gear changes to try and rectify his manners. PERFECT RULER hasn’t raced at his best since leaving Ryan Hill. SOLASH MOON was better than it reads first-up. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – HIGHLAND JEUNEY WIN RACE 2 GOLDEN OPERA didn’t get a run at the Opening Meeting at Esperance as an emergency so she went around in the 6 horse trial over 1100m and bolted in by nearly 3L. Looked a happier filly than the one who trialled moderately (generous) at Belmont on multiple occasions leading into her return at Northam when beaten 6L. DAINTY ROSE also leaves Danny Morton’s and heads to Esperance. Didn’t travel and didn’t let down at Pinjarra back in July, maybe the wet track got her? Maybe she just wasn’t right? PANCHO’S PLACE ran well on debut and behind a horse who will go through his grades in the region in Cap Cavour. GOD’S WRATH has been frustrating for a while now. Numbers: 13 – 9 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – GOLDEN OPERA WIN RACE 3 ROYAL ACCOLADE was the one that punters wanted at the Opening Meeting and he ran really well all things considered. He was first-up, no trial and raced really keenly under Holly Nottle and ended up doing a stack of work in the middle stages and ultimately could only close the margin to half a length on the line. This is a very similar line-up second-up and he should improve. Can turn the tables. BUSTER’S GIRL trialled nicely behind Lucky I Am (huge at Ascot last weekend) and then won well in that key form reference race. No reason she can’t win again. PURE QUALITY is again through the same race and there was little between many of them. BLITZEM BABE brings the alternate form through Kal. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROYAL ACCOLADE WIN RACE 4 DOTHRAKI made an impression at his first start in WA with a 1.5L win this track/distance in the 64+ grade. Second-up in the State he actually drops in grade back into a 58+ and looks naturally hard to beat. He does rise from 51.5kg to 58.5kg but he had dropped a stack of points between wins and so there’s definitely room for him to pinch a few this season. MOUNTAIN ASH is a horse who will probably do his best over 1600+ so to see him run a cheeky race behind Dothraki first-up at 1100 says he’s in for a great prep. LUCKY SUE never got into the contest first-up. Tash Faithfull a big booking. MIDNIGHT RUSH a watch. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – DOTHRAKI WIN RACE 5 RAZMAS had two runs in the metro/provincial area before heading to the Great Southern with Campbell McCullum’s team. Last time out he ran third to Saam Timy Lucky and subsequent mid-week winner Flinders Lane so the form really stands out heading into this C2 1400. He’s fit, he races on speed and he’ll be in front for a long way. Expect plenty of market support for him. RULING DAME does find it (very) hard to win but her recent runs for Paul Tapper have been encouraging. Knocking on the door. LACIE ACE should be able to win a race or two this year. HEAVENBENT is a watch but may still want further. Numbers: 5 – 12 – 11 – 8 Suggested Bet – RAZMAS WIN RACE 6 DANCING CHOOSE was an elite trial leading into last season and many a punter did their money on him first-up. This time around Josh & Freddo Brown elected to take him straight to the races without a trial and it paid dividends. He can win again. STORM COMMANDER has had two runs this preparation, one at Northam in a C5 when wide throughout in a race that Pin Deep dominated from the top and the other in a Heat of the Westspeed Platinum Series when only 2.4L behind Define Beautiful. Was a late scratching at Albany last week after getting loose. Going well enough. WEST COAST WARRIOR has just been a model of consistency since heading down to Esperance with Gary Burger. PRIZED JEWEL will need to get herself away from the fence at some stage. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – DANCING CHOOSE WIN RACE 7 TACITO had his first start in WA in a 70+ 1100 at Albany and he never got a crack at them at any stage in the home straight. Looked like Kyra Yuill had plenty of horse underneath but just no where to go and once clear the race was all over so she looked after him. Heads down to Esperance and gets out to a more suitable 1200m second-up. Think he’s quite a nice type for this grade. DEBONNAIRE is classy and will continue to improve start to start. Wider draws are actually often a blessing at Esperance too. FIRST LAW won well in the C5 on Opening Day. Can take the step up. FALSE STATEMENT is hit and miss out of the machine but if he jumps and gives himself every chance he’s more than capable. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – TACITO WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4,5,7 5,8,11,12 1,2,9 3,5,7,9 Market Market
