Scott Embry’s Friday Esperance Preview Posted on January 1, 2025January 1, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DANDYS GEM and MINOR DETAIL are both last start winners from the in form Josh Brown yard and they look the pair in the opener. Going to follow up with DANDYS GEM who has shown enough promise since arriving in Esperance and has a 1.5kg pull in the weights over the stablemate. MINOR DETAIL was $9 into $4.20 last week and landed good bets. Alex Hearn stays with Dandy’s Gem but you lose nothing with the return of Austin Galati. MY BOY EDDY hasn’t lived up to what he showed early days. RED WITH TED an improver. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – DANDYS GEM WIN RACE 2 PRIZED JEWEL ran second to Dandy’s Gem last start in a key form reference race over 1600m. She’s only going to be better for the run, she beat home key rival Nadell in the process and she’s drawn alongside main danger in Sugared Up. Think this is a nice winnable race for her to break through in. SUGARED UP was having her first run for Josh Brown and was 20s into $9 last weekend. Was left a sitting duck to be run down but never gave it away. NADELL comes through the same form race as Prized Jewel. MANGANUI is a long time maiden but usually there abouts. improve. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – PRIZED JEWEL WIN RACE 3 BLUE CAN TALK went around odds on last start but was attacked a long way out by the roughie. Was softened up throughout and thought all things considered she did a pretty good job to run second. Can bounce back here. WESTERNIZE went straight on by in that race. He can be hit and miss but on his day he’s a more than handy type. HILTON didn’t come up last preparation, but as we’re seeing with Nicholas Thomas, his horses are going lengths better at Esperance than they did at Kalgoorlie. DAWN AMNESTY is going super. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – BLUE CAN TALK WIN RACE 4 SNIPERS SON should be too classy for these. He won his maiden at Kalgoorlie by the length of the straight and then was thrown into the deep end into the Listed Belgravia Stakes when caught wide and finishing 6L behind West Star and subsequent Fairetha Stakes winner September Born. The Bay of Isles Bullet is back in town and expect him to win. DUBAI’S DAUGHTER showed last week she’ll be winning races in Esperance. Just bumps into a good one. SECRECITY ran a great race fresh. MARYBEE got the job done well at her Helen Harding debut. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – SNIPERS SON WIN RACE 5 ROYAL ACCOLADE has returned in career best form and off the strength of his last victory it’s hard to tip against him. He parked wide, he showed a level of toughness which had been missing from his racing previously and he was strong through the line. Same grade, same result? MILITARY ACTION can roll forwards from his wide draw and be put into the race. WITCH STREET was targeted in betting first-up and showed the money wasn’t far from the mark. SHEZGOTTHALOT has run two solid races in the region and now drops 1.5kg. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROYAL ACCOLADE WIN RACE 6 UNCOMPROMISED won four races in Esperance last season and then went to Kalgoorlie and beat classy mare Red Cadillac to take out the time honoured Tatts Cup. First-up, no trial at 1400m is a very similar set up to the run on 28 July when flashing home into second behind Debonnaire at Kal. Hard to beat. MUNGO JERRY stepped out to 1300m last start, settled rearwards and won with authority. He rises up another 100m and another 1.5kg but he’s still improving into the preparation. Big danger. I AM SPARTACUS is a long time servant of the Esperance Bay Turf Club and deserves another win. KALLAROO is a tease. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – UNCOMPROMISED WIN RACE 7 TRUE CHANCE is one of the more progressive horses in the region. He’s a lightly raced 5 year old who has won both of his races this preparation from rearward positions when winding up over the top of his rivals. 28 days between outings is a query and drawn low probably not the most suitable place for him, however, he’s got a lot of upside ability-wise. KENNY THE KING caused a boilover last week. See no reason why he can’t run a cheeky race again. WHEATSTACK THEIF is always hard to beat in this grade. FRIAR THE GUN has to overcome barrier 1. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – TRUE CHANCE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2 1,2,6,8,11 2,3 1,2,5 Market Market
