Scott Embry’s Friday Esperance Preview Posted on January 18, 2024January 18, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DARE ME is rapidly closing in on a maiden win. Has had three starts at Esperance and finished second, third and second – all over 1100m. Drawn to get another gun run over the speed and expect that the Blue Can Talk form is the right form. STOLEN VALOUR ran third in that same race and put in his best performance in a long while. Could be a new horse for an in form Paul Tapper. GOD’S WRATH showed something early with placings down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra. Watch at his Esperance debut. PERT REMARKS ran well first-up and second-up. Got tired late last start. Getting a bit long in the tooth now. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – DARE ME WIN RACE 2 TRUE CHANCE put in a blinder two starts back at odds and then backed it up most recently with a strong second behind Pure Quality. Drawn better here in barrier 3 so doesn’t need to get quite as far back in running. Looks one of many hopes in an open contest. EZELOVE and MISS SPARKLE both made ground up along the cutaway area of the track last start. For a lot of punters that’s worth lengths when you assess them because there’s hardly been a winner in that zone for the last few seasons. LET IT GO RUPERT has promised to win a race and pay the HBF bills all season. Yet to really race up to his price tag. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – TRUE CHANCE WIN RACE 3 BOOZEROO has had a sensational season. Won first-up in a 64+ 1100, won second-up in a C5 1100 and most recently won fourth-up in a 70+ 1100. He’s back into a 65+ and while you don’t like to be drawn barrier 1 at Esperance the way to overcome that is by leading and rolling up the home straight. He gets that opportunity here. Fingers crossed there’s some meat on the bone for early punters to chew on. HILTON comes back to 1200m but that’s no worry for him. He’s as effective at 1200 as he is at 13/1400. If you want a replay that proves the ‘fence is off’ Esperance theory just watch him last start. NORTHERN IVY has been a great addition to Paul Tappers stable and to the region. Can win again. JAKESTAR should go well fresh. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – BOOZEROO WIN RACE 4 TALK SOFTLY has won two from two this time in. Won a C2 1100m first-up when the C2 gallopers went quicker than the 58+ brigade on the same day indicating that he was in for a good prep and then backed it up with another C2 1100m last start. Scratched Boxing Day, scratched January 5 and now comes into this 6 weeks between runs. BLAZING PASSION is off the same day spacing having not run since 8 December. Barrier 1 isn’t of assistance to her but she’s still well placed. TOTAL LOCKDOWN has his first start in Esperance and was well respected by the market in Kal. NODUSTONME can run a cheeky race from time to time. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – TALK SOFTLY WIN RACE 5 VEVINSKY, WHO BY FIRE and UNCOMPROMISED clashed last start over 2000m and ran the trifecta. They all meet again but now back at a mile. Thinking that with a 2kg weight swing on Who By Fire and a 1kg weight swing on Uncompromised as well as a set of blinkers that VEVINSKY might be a chance of turning the tables. Expecting him to work forward from the wide draw and worth remembering that both his wins are in shades. WHO BY FIRE ran really well at his first start for Yannick Valenti and won impressively last start. UNCOMPROMISED had his chance to run him down last start, especially after Alan Kennedy decided his whip wasn’t worth carrying half way up the straight. RED WITH TED broke his maiden well. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – VEVINSKY WIN RACE 6 COUSIN NICCI finally put it all together last start and won impressively in a C1 1200. Won it by almost 2L and that was ahead of one of her main dangers here in Sister Kate. Rises only 1kg and should get a near identical run in transit from the barrier. Capable of going back to back. BLUE CAN TALK was simply too quick for them at her first start back from a spell. Jump and run type who will look to cross them from out deep. SISTER KATE has been excellent at her last three outings. Just needs to overcome a really wide draw. BEAUTY IN ME joins Josh Brown. She’s likely to get back from the draw but can really grit her teeth and pull out a big L600 on her day. Numbers: 4 – 11 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – COUSIN NICCI WIN Race 7 IRRITABLE RODNEE has to lump 62kg and has to come back to 1400m. They’re both natural queries but he is absolutely flying. He won running away from them last start with 60.5 and Austin Galati rides Esperance as well as anyone. Can win again. GAMBLERS GOLD was big first-up when beaten only 2L at 1100m behind Boozeroo in a 70+. Went back to a 58+ last start staying at 1100 and again found the line powerfully. Alan Kennedy bypasses the ride on Irritable Rodnee to stick with him and his last win was over 1435m at Broome. Respect. LINCOLNS LAW has won two on the bounce. Always a query on those who settle midfield from barrier 1. NO MORE DUST has found form and all of Paul Tappers are holding form. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 13 Suggested Bet – IRRITABLE RODNEE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,5,8 1,2,4 3,4,7,9,10,11 1,3,6,7,8,13,14 Market Market
