Scott Embry’s Friday Carnarvon Preview Posted on July 5, 2023July 5, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SORAIS went back to the inside last start and in many meetings and races so far this season at Carnarvon that’s been the difference between winning and losing. Austin Galati sticks and think with the extra distance he’ll be able to stay away from the inside and keep him moving into the race. HERO OF THE DAWN was first-up into a C1 1200 when resuming off a 68 day freshen. Thought he did a super job to more than hold his own and go down by under 2L to Nick Of Time and Raging Beauty. Does rise 400m but drops 2kg with ZJP going on and looks like he handles the dirt. CYCLONE PIA was working into contention nicely late and relishes the extra trip. LE WREN gave cheek. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – SORAIS WIN RACE 2 NIGHTS MYSTERY has taken a few runs to really find his feet on the dirt but now that he’s broken through and won one he should be able to go on with it. He’s drawn barrier 7 of 7 (seems like a trend with him!) but it allows him to roll across and park up over the speed as he did last start when winning impressively. HERITAGE SASH was super last start with the massive weight. This is a far more suitable race for him back to the 1000 and with ZJP going on he drops a whopping 7.5kg. Very wary. RAKIURA was no match for Nights Mystery last time they met. KRAMDEN can always pull one out fresh. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – NIGHTS MYSTERY WIN RACE 3 RAGING BEAUTY looks to have lobbed a wonderful set up to make it two wins from three starts on the dirt. Skipped right away from maiden opposition when breaking through off a 54 day let-up between Geraldton and Carnarvon and then finished second to Nick Of Time who grew wings late in the race. Drops back to 1000 and strikes a field full of maidens. WOJTEK comes back to 1000. He’ll come out running and look for a forward spot. Beats the vast majority just on class. OLD TIMES is another who is quick and coming back to the sprint trip looks suitable. ME N MORTS wasn’t bad at his first attempt on dirt. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – RAGING BEAUTY WIN RACE 4 MAN FROM MEMPHIS resumed off a 64 day let-up when contesting a 64+ 1600. He was backed from $51 into $17 and was taking ground off Roey Clam in the concluding stages and beat home The Divine Wind and Big Blows. He stays at the same weight dropping from a 64+ back into a C3 and he should only improve witness wise. Only won 1 from 38 but is going super. SET THE SCENE has been highly popular with punters since arriving in WA with Sean Rains. He tried hard behind Nero Chin Chin last start and with even luck is very hard to beat. SECRET LAIR and ROMMELS RETURN have had large travelling preparations but are both racing well. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – MAN FROM MEMPHIS EACHWAY RACE 5 BIG BLOWS won a 64+ 1400 only two starts ago when beating home Speeding Comet and The Divine Wind. Was ridden by Rosie Mahony that day and now two starts later she jumps back aboard in a 56+ 1600. He’ll likely land midfield and can sustain a run from the 600. Few of these may be suspect at the end of the mile so hopefully he’ll be winding up into it. NERO CHIN CHIN is in the form of his life. He’s flying. THE DIVINE WIND drops 2kg and gives new 4kg apprentice Ava Catarino her best look at a winner since getting her licence. LOOKING GREAT is first-up at a mile with 62kg yet can still win. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – BIG BLOWS WIN RACE 6 TEST OF STRENGTH was simply far too strong for them at his first-up run. He kicked clear to win by over 2.5L and the race time was 3L faster than average. Considering he sat deep and monstered them first-up see no reason why he can’t reproduce it second-up in this grade. SAMBAZA is no slouch and she’s loving life on the dirt. Interesting to see how she goes drawn barrier 1 – is an awkward moving kind of mare who has an ungainly (yet seemingly efficient) action. MOORUMBINE went close last start and gets 1kg on Sambaza. Ready to win. SUPERLOVE has been a model of consistency and deserves a win. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – TEST OF STRENGTH WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 4 1,2,3,4,9 1,2,3,4 2,3,4,8 Market Market
