Scott Embry’s Friday Carnarvon Preview Posted on June 20, 2023June 20, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SORAIS had his first start on the dirt in Carnarvon when storming home from a long way back to finish second behind Raging Beauty and ahead of main rial Miss Handel. Think the extra 200m is in his favour and the booking of Austin Galati is an added bonus – been flying for months. MISS HANDEL has impressed in two runs back. She’s finished third on both occasions, behind Set The Scene (subsequent C3 winner) and then behind Raging Beauty and Sorais. THUNDER PRO makes her Sean Rains debut and was a big improver on the grass second-up. MONEY FOR MUSIC needs the 1400. Big help stepping up in trip. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – SORAIS WIN RACE 2 SAMBAZA takes a while to wind-up but once she hits top gear she’s covering the dirt really impressively. Has a very unique action where she seems to throw the front leg forward and then follow through with the other three. Catches the eye but is seemingly efficient. Looks a race where she can lead them and then get rolling. HERITAGE SASH still has 65.5kg but his run last start wasn’t too bad all things considered. Awkwardly caught between grades. WOODBUG is a Carnarvon specialist and even with 62.5kg can make a race of it. THE WITCH DOCTOR comes into this dropping 5kg. Could be significant late. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – SAMBAZA WIN RACE 3 WOJTEK, RAGING BEAUTY and AMELIA’S CHANT look like they’ll be the first three in running and from there they really should be controlling the race to suit themselves. RAGING BEAUTY only comes out of a maiden but she was pulling away from them late and can go on with it now. WOJTEK rises up 5kg but drops out of a 64+. Prior effort ran second to Decoy Belle in a C1 with 62.5kg. AMELIA’S CHANT is going along ok and showing plenty of speed. HERO OF THE DAWN a newcomer to dirt racing. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – RAGING BEAUTY WIN RACE 4 ROEY CLAM was rock hard fit and was simply too strong for them late at his Carnarvon debut. Stays up with Cathy Godden’s yard who is enjoying a great start to the NW season. Drops 1kg on that win and over the mile will look to jump and run and get them chasing from the 600. Think he’ll get away from them and can go through the grades. BIG BLOWS is a Carnarvon/Broome specialist who was back to his best last start. He has a lot of weight but he’ll keep chasing. THE DIVINE WIND is going well but think the mile about sees him out. STRONG HEART will look to hold the back of Roey Clam who wore him down last start. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – ROEY CLAM WIN RACE 5 WARPIPES was the run of the season in replay at his Carnarvon debut. He was out the back after missing away and then rocketed home into third behind Nights Mystery and Rakiura in a 56+. Drops back into a C3 and only rises 2.5kg. Just needs to step. SHAKE BABY SHAKE joins the stables of Zach Tyler. She should be a great acquisition. Uncharacteristically slow out at Belmont. Forgive, previous form is more than good enough to win this (and a 56+). MYSTERY MAN likely needs further but brings intrigue at his dirt debut. LORDING hasn’t been seen at the races in almost 600 days. Big watch at his return. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – WARPIPES WIN RACE 6 SET THE SCENE broke his maiden in a time over 7L faster than maiden average. He stepped into a C3, rose in weight and was predictably annihilated in betting. He was $1.90 into $1.28 and really had to dig deep to win. He’s drawn inside of Nero Chin Chin again and he should go close to making it three on the bounce. NERO CHIN CHIN is going super. He does struggle to win but it’s hard to ignore the way he’s going since resuming. LOOKING GREAT had a wonderful season as a 9 year old when last in Carnarvon. If he could find the front he gives cheek. Has to load first! DECOY BELLE gets a similar run to when winning two starts back. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – SET THE SCENE WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,3,7 5 2,3,5 2,3 Market Market
