Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on December 24, 2025December 24, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SEA OF GALILEE hasn’t set the world on fire since arriving here in WA but this does look the weakest maiden he has seen so far and with Tash Faithfull sticking he’ll go around favourite and looks hard to beat. He ran 1.4L second to Bagger Prince and key rival ARAFISIO ran third beaten 2.2L. He’s quite one paced and expect that he’ll be put into the contest from the 600 and ridden like the best horse. Now is his chance. ARAFISIO is a 31 start maiden but this season has clearly been her best. She’s got a barrier draw advantage over Sea of Galilee and it’ll be interesting to see if Casey Hunter can have her a pair closer in running. LYN’S STAR is on the 6 day spin and wasn’t horrible in the $50,000 maiden at Ascot. TANGO RHYTHM is still building into the prep. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – SEA OF GALILEE WIN RACE 2 NAILED’EM hadn’t shown much in Perth after having five separate trials across two preparations as a 2 year old and has now lobbed down in Albany with Sammy Faithfull. The one public appearance as a 3 year old was a 4.5L trial win (in good time?) and we’ll trust the eye and suggest that he can make a winning debut all of a sudden. CAPRICIOUS RULER had two starts for Grant & Alana Williams and was hammered in betting on debut. She’s on a near 2 month freshen and heads to Roy Rogers who has had a bit of success over the years with Galante horses. VALID POINT led running three weeks ago and expect he’ll be set alight early to get across. REGGIO CALABRAI has shades attached and has hit the line well in each recent run in Albany. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – NAILED’EM WIN RACE 3 BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE put the writing on the wall at her return to racing. She drew wide, went back and then rattled to the line over 1500m and second-up gets to a more suitable 1900 and gets the services of regular rider Tash Faithfull back aboard. Historically has improved sharply second-up and if that’s the case here she’ll be hard to beat. PURE CHINO was a great winner over 1600m under 61.5kg in a 58+ here at Albany before heading to Perth and being beaten a 5L margin in a race where she was on and off the bridle. Actually came again in the last 200 which was strange after looking gone at the 800. Clearly loves Albany and can bounce back. MR POPCORN has found a really nice race again here and drops down 3.5kg. If he can lead from the inside gate he’ll be hard to run down. DEADLY AND FAST next best. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE WIN RACE 4 FIGHT IN FLIGHT was super at her return to racing, winning a C2 1500 by a 2.5L margin. Liam O’Loughlin clearly had her fit and ready to go and considering he also trained the mare he must have an intimate knowledge of the family so we’ll trust the move to go into this a month between outings and hope that she can reproduce. ASTONISHER broke her maiden leading and then was super behind Lady Ducati from close handy. She’s getting better and better with racing and is progressive relative to most of these. NICCY’S AFFAIR led and won at 1500m four starts back and is better suited at the mile than the 1900s of recent outings. BAGGER PRINCE looks a difference horse when he can lead. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – FIGHT IN FLIGHT WIN RACE 5 BRAVE APACHE broke his maiden at his WA debut by 3L over a subsequent winner, finished third to a subsequent winner in Fantaxtic second-up and then third-up went to Ascot where he sat three deep the trip under 59kg and kept kicking on into second (survived a protest). He’s again drawn a bit sticky but if he can bully his way to the top he’ll be very hard to beat. PRINCE was ridden all of last prep by Tash Faithfull and has now been purchased by her mum and a string of new connections. He’s a C3 1000m winner and he’ll be a great buy for the region. LADY COCO finally broke through at start 15 for a deserved win after a string of minors. SANCTIONS was ridden back last start at Albany and seemed to appreciate it. Versatile mare. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – BRAVE APACHE WIN RACE 6 WINEACLOCKSUMWHERE won back to back races in Albany for new trainer Sam Faithfull and then was still sent out a $3.40 second favourite in the $100,000 Final of the Regional Championship Series at Ascot, regardless of the fact that the map looked horrendous under 60.5kg. Did a massive job to still run fourth and now heads back to Albany to try and make it 5 starts for 4 wins. Looks like getting to the breeze and that’s really all he needs. FLYING SOUTH ran a super second first-up under 60.5kg in a race where the leader broke the field open and really forced him to carry the weight. Great return. VILLAGE GIRL won that race but was afforded every chance. CASH AWAY hasn’t seen a race of this nature in the last 3 years. Could be a very quick improver. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – WINEACLOCKSUMWHERE WIN RACE 7 MAGICASH put in her best run of the last 12 months behind Fantaxtic last start. It’s incredible how strong that Hey Pino race is turning out as a form reference, everything that was in that field is being crunched in betting at their next start(s) and running well. She’s no exception and now Tash Faithfull goes on. Big book for Tash as always. NICCONAMI sat in the breeze at 20-1 and bolted in last start, that’s how good Indianna Weinert’s team is going. EL FOXIE broke his maiden well three weeks back and the runner-up (Lady Coco) came out and franked the form straight away. FOUR SEAS was a consistent type of mare last prep for trainer/rider Casey Hunter. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – MAGICASH WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,5,7,8,10 3,5 6,7 1,3,9 Market Market
