Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on May 5, 2021May 5, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FRIAR THE GUN was a nice trial alongside Billy Ray and Kasonori before heading to Narogin for a first-up assignment over 1190m. Was the only horse to make any noticeable ground behind run away winner God’s Business and looks far better suited stepping out to 1500m. Should get a nice run from the drawa and drops 2kg back into a set weights maiden. INAHAPPYDAZE has the shades added and hasn’t done anything wrong in two runs this preparation. THERSYOURTROUBLE attacked the line hard from a long way off them fresh. MINER ADDICTION an improver. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – FRIAR THE GUN WIN RACE 2 LITTLE PUNGA takes on 70+ opposition and while he deep into the preparation (13th run) he is racing in outstanding order. Tyla Becker was handed the race last start (first 600m 10L slower than average, last 600 10L faster than average) and if they again allow her to control the tempo there’s no reason why he can’t lead all the way again. DARK ASSAULT comes from an Ascot 3yo 0MWLY to a c70+ and drops 6kg. Well placed and looks the big danger. KAZKAZI has been in form all preparation and Roy Rogers throws Chris Parnham on this one rather than Dark Assault. GO CRYING should improve in the small field. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – LITTLE PUNGA WIN RACE 3 ELITE TIME looks another of the travelling Adam Durrant yard who will be hard to beat in the maidens. Debut effort was sound when finishing within 2L of Contessa Medici and then didn’t seem to really handle the 1000m straight racing. Worth following up getting back around the bend. BELLE POWER was plunged last start and the money was left in the bookie’s bags. Blinkers on here. Where there’s smoke there’s fire. TAKE ME THERE and YOYOS can both run home into the money without surprising. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – ELITE TIME WIN RACE 4 JULIETTE looks to have (finally) found her race. Was truckloaded in a 58+ 1900 two starts ago when only grabbed late by Kazkazi beating home handy ratings types like War Class, Scream in Blue and Western King. Last start dropped back into a mile race and was pretty one paced. Back out in trip, blinkers on = Now or Never. REBEL MAN was a sharp improver last start and looks a staying type in the making. SNIPNTUCK gets a soft run and brings stronger form than most (C3 and 3yo 0MWLY). COMBAT READY was woeful at his Sam Faithfull debut. He’s better than that. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – JULIETTE WIN RACE 5 BLACKWATER BAY is double nominated for Wednesday at Ascot and Friday at Albany. Whichever way he goes he’ll be the on top selection and whichever way he goes he’ll be very hard to beat. IF he doesn’t start then SCHOOLWORK looks more than capable of going back to back. Enormous win last start when doing it tough on top of a hot tempo. Sneaks in on the minimum and gains the services of Chris Parnham. SREAM IN BLUE drops back to a mile and has been knocking on the door throughout the season. FAMILY CONNECTION won soft last start. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – BLACKWATER BAY WIN RACE 6 SOLARIZE looks well placed by Brett Drury into this Albany C2 event. Won a 1200m C1 first-up no trial under William Pike beating home subsequent winner Michelle Ma Belle and midweek place getter Apple Schnapps. Went into a C3 at Ascot, dropped back to 1000 and wasn’t disgraced behind Sunnysilk, Noble Reflection and Jag The Joker. This is a much better race for him. MAGNUSON MAN ran really well off a freshen. RAGING ROCKET has hit some form and gets the right run. LIFE FOR A LIFE was the beneficiary of a Watson special last start at Geraldton. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – SOLARIZE WIN RACE 7 AYASHA bobs up from time to time and this looks a great opportunity for the consistent mare. This race lacks speed and depth and she’s in as good form as any. No weight after the claim for Snaggers Sardelic and from the draw should be given every possible chance over the top of the speed. CONVALESCE was a huge drifter first-up and was never in the race. He’s much better than that. ROGUES POINT is at the cross roads. Sprinter? Stayer? Talented? Suck? Plenty of question marks on him. SWIFT GONDO gets a gun run from the draw. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – AYASHA EACHWAY RACE 8 STRATHMORE ROSE has been a brilliant little filly to follow this preparation. Won with her eyes closed first-up no trial when running them ragged to win by almost 8L. Missed away second-up and was a complete forgive run. Bounced back straight away to win soft in a C2 under Chris Parnham before taking it up to Saturday 3 year olds in town. Dominated them last start and should do so again. NURHACI will make a race of it after beating handy filly Just a Pinch first-up. SAX ON QUE is going super but continues to run into one or two sharper than him. THE SINGING TIGER has flashed ability in a short career. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – STRATHMORE ROSE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) (3) / 1,2,5,6,9 1,2,3,7 1,2,5,8,10 4 Market Market
