Scorchers vs Strikers Preview Posted on January 4, 2016January 28, 2016 | Posted by Wayne Clark Tuesday 5th January – Adelaide Oval We seem to be saying it each game, but what a contest this should be. Two sides in form though their last victories couldn’t be more different. The Scorchers cruised in their last game whereas the Strikers pulled off an amazing come-from-behind win, due to the heroics of Travis Head. This makes it a bit hard to line the two teams up. The Scorchers have been ruthless in the way they have played with all their bowlers continuing to show their skills and discipline. On the batting side though, only a few have had the opportunity to get out into the middle due to the magnificent form of Klinger and Shaun Marsh. This may well be a disadvantage to the Scorchers, especially, heaven forbid, if either or both go early. Harris has shown his capabilities but Agar, Bancroft, Turner, Willey etc. are lacking time in the middle. This is where the Scorchers could be vulnerable. Should S Marsh and Klinger continue their form, the Scorchers will win but the crux of the matter is – if they fail can the others step up against an inform Strikers attack? Rashid has bowled superbly, ably supported by Laughlin who continues to baffle with this variation. Good support from Richardson, Holland, Head & a vocal, parochial crowd will really test the Scorchers. The Strikers batting line up is also dangerous. Simmonds and Ludeman have yet to really fire and we know they can score big. Jaywardene provides the class and we’ve already seen the capabilities of Head & Ross. They have the depth required to help counter an excellent Scorchers attack lead by inform Behrendorf, wicket-taking Tye and of course Hoggy! So who will win? A difficult one to pick but I’m swaying towards the Strikers, only due to my concern of Scorchers batsmen not having had time in the middle. Willey is my roughie for leading scorer…if he gets a hit!
