Michael Heaton’s Thursday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on October 1, 2025October 2, 2025 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 TWIST OF GOLD went down by only a nose to Pearly Nuggett 2 starts back then won nicely last time out. She has the option to either kick through and lead or take a sit on the expected strong tempo from her inside draw. PEARLY NUGGETT hasn’t raced for 39 days and has drawn outside the other speedsters but she is in blistering form and races well fresh. SECRET STYLE hasn’t looked the same horse this prep so MR Peter Fernie throws on the blinkers for the first time. Her best would be more than good enough. TREASURED QUEEN might be vulnerable late with the amount of top-end engaged. Numbers: 5-1-4-3 Suggested Bet – TWIST OF GOLD WIN RACE 2 SOLAR CREST never saw daylight in her recent trial and looks hard to beat despite the bar plates going on. All 3 career runs have been at Saturday level which includes running the fastest closing sectionals when third to Loves Talking on debut at Ascot and being beaten only 3.3L by Talkanco in the Gimcrack Stakes. BEYOND THE WALL has placed at 4 of his past 5 starts and is knocking on the door. The form from his last start effort is holding up well. TIGER TANK was a sharp improver with blinkers on in the recent trial and the second horse (Heaven Specified) finished a close second as favourite at Bunbury on Monday. VAIN UNIVERSE next best. Numbers: 8-1-7-3 Suggested Bet – SOLAR CREST WIN RACE 3 WITHOUT REMORSE caught the eye with a slashing second from a long way back on debut last prep and moved very well in his recent 400m trial. He gets C Parnham aboard and this is a nice race for him first up. SEA OF GALILEE is a big watch at his WA debut. Lightly-raced 4YO who never fired in NSW in the autumn and did what he had to do in a recent trial win against moderate opposition. WHATYOUTALKINABOUT was never in the hunt first up. He did his best work late and the extra 150m looks in his favour. ORDASHUS was beaten less than a length when second in a Northam Maiden 2 starts back and gets a senior aboard here but maps awkwardly from the gate. Numbers: 8-5-9-3 Suggested Bet – WITHOUT REMORSE WIN RACE 4 ARGYLE STAR produced a slashing run at her first start for the new yard 3 starts back before only a fair effort at her next outing and then winning with some authority last time out. She drops 440m in distance but this isn’t a deep race and Josh “Metro” Brown will have the 7YO mare cherry ripe for his return to his hometown. ABSOLUTE PLUM was unsuited by the dawdling tempo last start but was sectionally a very good run to get as close as she did at a big price. SABINO hasn’t won in 1,002 days but has placed at 4 of his past 5 starts and should be on-speed for a long way. I NEVER DREAMED was unlucky 2 starts ago and got too far back in a slowly-run race last time out. Numbers: 5-6-9-3 Suggested Bet – ARGYLE STAR WIN RACE 5 FLAGSHIP looks nicely placed backing up off 8 days and dropping in grade. He’s a consistent type who hasn’t been beaten far at all so far this prep and this looks the right race for him to break through in. TOURETTO gets back and is better suited over further but trialled okay without blinkers on. SUNSHINE TAFE never got a crack at them last start but maps much more favourably here and is capable. EEVALINA drops in grade from a good run last start and gets weight swings on rivals from previous encounters after the claim but looks destined to do it tough from the draw. Numbers: 3-4-6-2 Suggested Bet – FLAGSHIP WIN RACE 6 JUST FAMOUS should be ready third-up. He went down by the narrowest of margins last start, gets a senior rider back aboard and now steps to what looks like being his right distance. GREAT EDITION is another Neville Parnham runner who backs up from last week and is going well. He’s been a model of consistency and has tactical versatility. JAYASHREE was well supported at her WA debut but never looked likely. Keep safe second up. TOP FUN hasn’t had much luck lately. Numbers: 2-1-6-7 Suggested Bet – JUST FAMOUS WIN RACE 7 COOL MEMORY dominated the Farnley Stakes and whilst his record suggests he’s far more effective on rain-affected tracks, he’s still run some big races on top of the ground and should be able to lead again. Darren McAullife won this race last year and has the horse they have to beat this year. SECRET ATTRACTION races 11 points outside the handicap but still looks a danger. She drops 7kg from a big first-up run and was beaten less than 1.5 lengths by Generosity and Bonjoy only 3 starts ago. ROKANORI is going super for Team Gangemi. He should enjoy a sweet run but meets Cool Memory only a half-kilo better for being beaten more than 3L by him in the Farnley. KAPTAIN KAOS continues to find the line as well as anything and meets Cool Memory 2.5kg better off from last start. Worth including at a price. Numbers: 3-11-4-6 Suggested Bet – COOL MEMORY WIN RACE 8 LAVISH CHARM broke maiden status with the handbrake on first up. This is naturally a far tougher assignment but he looks progressive enough to take the next step and he has options from the draw. BUNDABERG gets into this nicely after his 3YO allowance and should be on-speed for a long way. SNIPER’S SON returns to the track where he scored an emphatic maiden win on this day last year. He maps to stalk Lavish Charm’s every move and has been going well without winning this time in. FIRE THE GUARD drops in grade after a solid run at this track/distance last start and should be doing his best work late. Numbers: 3-5-2-1 Suggested Bet – LAVISH CHARM WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,4,5,6 1,2 3,4,5,6,11 1,2,3,5 Market Market
