Michael Heaton’s Saturday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on October 3, 2025October 3, 2025 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 If ARGYLE STAR backs up off a 48-hour turnaround from Hannans day she’ll have admirers. Love stayers off the quick spin and this mare won in dominant fashion in a lowly 46+ at Northam on September 14, whilst also being a previous winner off 7 days. STYLE DIVA won at the same track/grade/distance at Northam in a much faster run race last start when running over the top of them after they overcooked it in front. DESERT EDGE comes out of the Toodyay Cup off a 6-day back up and looks like getting an ultra-soft lead in front. He meets Argyle Star 4.5kg better off for finishing <3L second to her 2 starts back which brings him right into calculations. VILLEINS is a former Boulder Cup winner who is ideally placed dropping to this grade but he also looks a shadow of his former self. Numbers: 3-6-4-1 Suggested Bet – ARGYLE STAR WIN RACE 2 SATURDAY SESH took 11 starts to break maiden status but has returned in great order this campaign. Strong win first up, beaten a nose second up and then defeated subsequent winner Three Grand last start. KIRALUI is deep into a prep but is still going well enough to win. This is a lot easier than her last start and Pike jumping back aboard is a big tick after he lifted her to victory 2 starts back. GIBRALTER GOLD looks better suited dropping back to 1400m. PLAYING QUEST has won 2 from 3 second up and should be an improver back on top of the ground. Numbers: 2-1-4-3 Suggested Bet – SATURDAY SESH WIN RACE 3 DECORATION loves Kalgoorlie. He was 3 from 3 at the track before finishing third to Ginger Baker and Sentimental Hero in the Coolgardie Cup despite racing 15 points outside the handicap 2 starts back then never saw daylight at Belmont last time out. Well placed back into a Graduation. FEUDING has been beaten by Decoration at all 3 of their encounters but gets nice weight swings on him for it. PLEASE MIZTER is racing 4 weeks between runs after being scratched with a hoof abscess a fortnight ago which isn’t ideal but he was progressing nicely prior to that and should lead. MORE THAN ENUFF is going well and has won 2 from 3 at this track/distance. Numbers: 1-2-5-3 Suggested Bet – DECORATION WIN RACE 4 INFLUENCING was very unlucky last start when blocked for the majority of the straight. He was travelling strongly before finding trouble, meets Close At Hand 2kg better off for it and is 2 from 2 at the Kalgoorlie 1400m circuit. CLOSE AT HAND is going well and is undefeated 3 from 3 with Lucy Fiore aboard but might need some luck in running if he ends up leaders-back. EXCELTRAIN is 7 weeks between runs but goes much better on top of the ground and has the speed to lead. COLD SHIZZLE hasn’t had much luck lately and is another who will appreciate the firmer deck. Numbers: 3-4-2-1 Suggested Bet – INFLUENCING WIN RACE 5 ODINAKA is going great guns. His form is hard to fault and whilst he’s clearly been loving the wet Perth tracks in recent months, he’s also proven himself capable on top of the ground previously. DECISION MAKER concedes 2kg to Odinaka who should’ve finished closer to him last start but was still a big effort to make the leap from a C1 to 66+ grade. He appears to have upside. GAGE ROADS should be able to stroll to the top and dictate terms in a race devoid of speed. KERVETTE hasn’t had much luck lately and now gets Pike. Numbers: 2-5-6-8 Suggested Bet – ODINAKA EACH-WAY RACE 6 IMMORTAL BLISS might need some luck from the gate but he looks a more effective horse coming from off the pace. The top-end speed and 100m drop in distance here should suit him and he’ll be launching late. ANGEL UNDERCOVER followed up a nice trial with a slashing run first up last week but the 61.5kg is a real leveller if she starts. SECRET STYLE started favourite in this race last year but hasn’t quite returned to her best this time in yet. SIR DREAMALOT brings nice alternate form through the 3YO features but has drawn sticky and his recent trials were only even. Numbers: 4-1-14-6 Suggested Bet – IMMORTAL BLISS WIN RACE 7 MAGNIFICENT ANDY looks well placed in the inaugural $1 million Golden Saddle. Has had 2 trials (without blinkers) in preparation, is the best suited under WFA conditions and has drawn an ideal barrier to park midfield. TWAIN’S ANGEL is a high-class mare resuming. She’s won 9 from 15 including The Joey off a 56-day freshen at her last start and is another who maps sweetly. Stablemate HANCHI faces his toughest test to date but has been storming home in huge late figures which suggest he’s up to the level. FINAL SIREN will be prominent in the run but looks destined to cop some pressure. Numbers: 1-10-6-5 Suggested Bet – MAGNIFICENT ANDY WIN RACE 8 STARRY HEIGHTS was strung up from his inside draw in a very slowly-run Boulder Cup last start and flew into second place when the race was already over. He importantly draws off the fence now (like last year), meets Sentimental Hero 2kg better (carrying 1kg less than he did last year) and can make it back-to-back Kalgoorlie Cups. SENTIMENTAL HERO won the Boulder Cup in style and will be hard to beat again but will have to break the race weight-carrying record with 60.5kg. RYEWOOD was a top run in the Boulder Cup and continues to fly under the radar. I LOVE YOUR SMILE ran the fastest last 200m of the entire meeting to win in a huge effort at Belmont last Saturday and usually excels off a quick back up. Numbers: 4-1-11-7 Suggested Bet – STARRY HEIGHTS WIN RACE 9 CORN COB was below his best last start but was going very well prior to that. He’s won 11 races on top of the ground so he should suit this track, will settle close to the speed and the stable is in form. MISS WALL STREET has been a handy acquisition for Mack Hall and has produced big runs at both her Kalgoorlie outings recently. TREBLE MAKER hasn’t raced since pulling up with vets issues after starting favourite in the Provincial Championship Series Final but was in good very form beforehand. EEVALINA was scratched from Thursday in preference for this and is capable on her day. Numbers: 1-7-11-5 Suggested Bet – CORN COB WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,4,5,6,7,9,14 1,5,6,10,11 1,4 1,5,7,11 Market Market
