Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview

Race 1

Some tricky races to work through with a lot of debutantes. MAGIC PLAYA (6) has run any time but has tracked the typical Justin Prentice pathway through trials and looks decent in both trials, the stable normally get to the track and take a giant leap forward so there is some guess work involved but looks a nice type. THUMBS UP JOHNNY (2) will be better for the first up run and has a solid draw to work with. TOKYO SUNRISE (3) has shown promise in trials and must be respected. BEAU PARA (5) works with a tricky draw but has also shown promise. PRECIOUS MIKI (8) must overcome the widest draw. TERBIUM (4) wasn’t disgraced at debut.

Tips: 6 2 3 5

Suggested Bet: MAGIC PLAYA (6) to win.

Race 2

SEASIDE SERENADE (1) picks herself, both wins have been against the trend of the race and has been too good for them, gets the perfect draw and looks the winner again. EDGE ELEVEN (6) has been consistent since debuting and can do some work when required. WOODBRIDGE ROSE (9) likely heads forward off the arm, has good early speed and will look to get into it. SWEET GRINS (2) looks to have some promise but also appears green, will be nursed early. ARVANNAS WISH (3) has trialled up soundly and must be respected with the stable. POCKET OF DREAMS (8) may be dangerous to leave out but the draw hurts.

Tips: 1 6 3 9

Suggested Bet: ARVANNAS WISH (3) to place.

Race 3

SPYCHIEF (2) impressed on debut and looks to have natural speed off the arm, appears hard to beat here as he could find the top and give them something to catch. RUSSIAN SNIPER (1) won well on debut, but the early speed is a concern, still will be close enough. GAITKEEPER (3) must be respected off the trial form and drawn in close. IDEAL WHISPER (6) appears to have depth, but the draw will require him to do some dirty work and LEO NARRDO (7) falls under the same category off the back of decent trial form.

Tips: 2 1 3 6

Suggested Bet: SPYCHIEF (2) to win.

Race 4

ALL OUT OF ACES (6) has caught my eye in trials and looks to have ability, draw is tricky but overall depth might suit her a bit more, expecting a bold performance. MADE FOR ME (1) has the nice draw and improved nicely from first race to second, should be prominent. BROADWAY LAEDI (8) looks a speedy type and will need that pace from the wide draw. MISS AURA (9) drawn horribly but trials have been good. SEASPIRIT (5) lacked early speed last trial but sprinted well, looks to have ability. RACKETEERS DREAM (2), IDEAL HEADLINE (3), KWAITO (4) all look to have some promise.

Tips: 6 1 8 5

Suggested Bet: ALL OUT OF ACES (6) to win.

Race 5

HEZ THE BOSS (2) is a nice type, first up run was superb and followed it up with an expected victory, early speed is up in the air now but has a great deal of depth and looks hard to beat in this. TONTARN (1) has the nice draw and can feature in the novelties. JETPACK (4) was solid on debut and must be respected to improve off that. ASTERI ADELPHOS (5) has closed off well in trials and its time to see what he can do. RIP TIDE (7) and BROCKMANN (8) have both trialled well, but the draws are less than ideal.

Tips: 2 4 1 7

Suggested Bet: HEZ THE BOSS/JETPACK to Exacta.

Race 6

COMO EL VIENTO (9) has been impressive in defeat in recent runs and must overcome the wide gate but has strings to his bow and looks hard to hold out late. HAVEYOUMETTED (8) is knocking on the door but is more one dimensional from this draw and looks more of a novelty chance. ROCKABILITY (2) gets the good draw and could improve after disappointing first up for the stable. WANDERING GIRL (3) was decent on Friday night and is heading in the right direction, novelty chance to her and REELEM INN (4), GETN WIGGY WITHIT (6) and MISS UNEEK (10) who must be respected first up from the soft draw.

Tips: 9 8 4 2

Suggested Bet: COMO EL VIENTO (9) to win.

Race 7

Open race. DARE TO LIE (1) can hop and skip occasionally but normally has decent gate speed, race looks suitable to see her lead and give them something to catch. SPLASH OF CASH (3) closed off strongly last time out, and likely to be close to the speed. FLYING FELIX (7) is a consistent type and must be respected in this, just needs to find a position. MORE THAN HONOURED (9) won well at Williams but life gets harder from barrier 9. VISITING HOURS (12) and GRACEFUL SHARK (11) both racing soundly and will run home. SUKHOVEY WINDCHIME (4) is a novelty hope with ELLEOFAREACTOR (6) and STRIKING A DEAL (8) with all of them facing tricky maps.

Tips: 1 3 7 11

Suggested Bet: DARE TO LIE (1) to win.

Race 8

KARAOKE STAR (3) was well driven last time out and got close on the run home, maps well here and could work his way to the top and on some of his recent performances I am expecting him to go close. SWITCH BLADE (6) caught my eye last start and has some early speed, could be the value play in the race. MADDY ROCKS (12) won well last time out and should improve with the race run and will be closing off well. DUNAMIS (4) was disappointing last time out but is a novelty chance first. BLITZAR (7) was decent on return but drawn much tougher here.

Tips: 3 6 12 7

Suggested Bet: SWITCH BLADE (6) each way.

Race 9

SWEET WISH (8) rises in grade but has made easy work of his first two wins and looks hard to beat again even from the wide draw. Will meet with some resistance from MISS LEOPATRA (3) who looks better suited on a bigger track but hit the line powerfully on return and looks a nice type, expecting a big run. BET IM HOT (4) trialled up well and looks to have speed, respect. EL RAES GIRL (9) has talent, but the draw is challenging. CINCH (7) will be running on well but looks more of a novelty chance.

Tips: 3 8 4 9

Suggested Bet: MISS LEOPATRA (3) to win.

Race 10

COL DU GRANON (3) appears better suited at the stand as he did things wrong in the mobile but has been beginning from the stand well, steps up to the longer trip but looks suited and should go close. BEE BEE BEROC (7) can get fired up but his last few have been good, stuck on well in his most recent run and is ready to win. CASHOUT (10) stepped nicely in a recent stand trial and has the ability, just needs to do it all correctly. THE HONOURS (5) got home well last time out and just needs a safe getaway to get into the money. YOUR KIDDING (9) can improve as he drops from the Trotters Cup to this grade.

Tips: 3 7 10 5

Suggested Bet: COL DU GRANON (3) to win.

Race 11

STARANNA (10) was KO’d last time out when making ground and this class looks suitable, expecting a bold performance and will go close. AMERICAN TYPHOON (5) burnt the candle at both ends last time out and was a much-improved run, expecting her to run well in this and can go close to breaking through. PURELY PANDEMIC (3) has good early speed with moderate beginners underneath, looks the early leader with options. SUPREME RHAPSODY (7) is suited in this grade and will run well, tricky map but capable. LUNAR MISS (8) has shown enough for this grade but returns from a wide gate.

Tips: 10 5 3 7

Suggested Bet: STARANNA (10) each way.
