Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview

Race 1

NITE SNIPER (10) looks a nice type and trialled well, if anything the draw was probably the only one connections wouldn’t have wanted given his early speed, this will be a good test but looks hard to beat. TOO FAR AWAY TED (7) has decent early speed and draw advantage over some of his key rivals; he is knocking on the door. TEXAS STORM (9) is racing well but this is harder from the draw, and SOME LINE (8) has done a bit of racing and has a few opportunities, but he has been close up against some solid types. NOT SO SWEET (1) is a novelty chance if she does everything right from the good draw.

Tips: 10 7 8 9

Suggested Bet: NITE SNIPER/TOO FAR AWAY TED to quinella.

Race 2

MAJOR TYPHOON (3) was very disappointing when leading last time out but pulled up with an issue, she then bounced back with a very impressive trial win, has good early speed and looks to lead and I think off the trial she has gone to another level and should win. ELVIRA JANE (1) was a forgive last time out, race wasn’t run to suit, perfect draw and a solid place chance. PIPERS PARADE (6) won with arrogance last time out but won’t get the luxury of leading, can be in the money with SHEER ROCK LADY (9) who keeps elevating but the draw hurts. MISS VINCENZA (5), LITTLE MISS MOLLY (7) and CIGANDA (8) all capable of filling the top 3 or 4 with the right runs.

Tips: 3 1 6 9

Suggested Bet: MAJOR TYPHOON (3) to win.

Race 3

PINNY NOIR (4) has the speed to bounce on the bunny quickly and looks very hard to run down, lead time hurt him last week and was run down late, expecting him to run a big race. YAWOMA (5) will be better for the last effort, respect here but he is likely to have to do plenty of work again. BEAUDIENE HUNTER (6) looks a nice type, still learning the caper and has strings to his bow. FABULOUS DREAM (7), KINKY (8) and DELULU (9) all capable but the fillies have the tough draws to overcome and have been mixing their form.

Suggested Bet: PINNY NOIR (4) to win.

Race 4

Start is key to this race. TORREVEAN PINKY (2) has handed up in recent runs but is now a bit fitter and has the speed, either way she should be close enough to be dangerous. OUR MAJOR JACK (5) would win this race if he led, I think, it’s a big IF but this looks a good race for him and he’s ready to run a big race. ADMIRAL DARCY (9) must overcome the wide draw but was solid last time out and the tempo could suit. TRITTRITTBANGBANG (8) has that early speed to put him into a decent position. THEYCALL ME STOOGE (6) and SIANGDI (7) are both capable with the right runs, prefer the former mentioned as he has good closing speed. WANDERING GIRL (1) can be considered for your trifecta’s and first 4’s.

Suggested Bet: OUR MAJOR JACK (5) to win.

Race 5

WATCH ME WAVE (5) is racing in good form, she appeared to have every chance last start but was just grabbed late, looks to head forward and could lead this and be very hard to beat. TORREVEAN AMY (4) has come back and is building into the preparation and expecting her to run well here, should be close enough. UNLUCKY (8) is racing well, has lifted into the preparation and likely to head forward and will stick on. ICY COLD (9) raced well on Friday but needs to lead to win this and that looks unlikely. SIMPLYTHEBEST (6) is consistent, but the draw could be quite awkward. BETTERTHAN SECRET (11) disappointed on Friday but is capable of better.

Tips: 5 4 8 11

Suggested Bet: WATCH ME WAVE (5) to win.

Race 6

KARAOKE STAR (9) is racing well, didn’t have a great deal of luck last time out and although I prefer him at a shorter trip, I am expecting him to run a big race here. HES THUNDER (7) is racing consistently and has the toughness required to overcome the draw, expecting him to feature strongly. GEARSINAWHIRL (5) has the speed to lead early and become a place chance. ZUEDE (6) needs luck but racing soundly. SHES MY LITTLE GEM (2) was well backed and did very little last time out, she has been quite disappointing since coming to WA, has shown some promise so she’s hard to get a gauge on. ARUM (8) may need the run but has shown promise last time in. GOOD TIMES AHEAD (10), SONIC SEELSTER (11) and JILLIBY JAKE (12) all novelty chances but don’t win often.

Tips: 9 7 5 6

Suggested Bet: KARAOKE STAR (9) to win.

Race 7

ROCKSTAR QUALITY (12) was very good in defeat in his two runs for Ross Olivieri, this looks a perfect race for him to win and can break through here. REELEM INN (11) had a tough run last time out and looks much better suited here, should run a big race and looks the main danger. Novelty chances look best for some of the others in the race with SNAKEY BAY (1) and BLIND EDITION (4) better efforts on Friday but deeper field to take on overall here. A DUKE TO BE (5) is capable of better and can lift in this, novelty chance with TELL ITIN HEAVEN (6) who is racing well but awkwardly drawn. GINNIVAN (7) has come back well and is versatile, HEARTOFAHLIA (8) is capable of better, but she’s not shown her best this time in yet and draw hurts. VINITA ROSE (9) may need the run on return, and the draw is a leveller.

Tips: 12 11 7 8

Suggested Bet: ROCKSTAR QUALITY (12) to win.

Race 8

MAJESTIC GA GA (6) looks suited in the stand, normally she steps well and last time in the stand she missed away and was massive in defeat, she looks very hard to beat if she trots away. ALDEBARAN BOYD (5) is the main danger; he has the fitness and normally steps safely but has lost his handicap advantage that he was sporting in recent wins against MAJESTIC GA GA (6). QUIGGLEY (3) was flying when last time in, he can be hard to catch, and the start is a concern but he’s really coming into his own as a trotter. ARISTOTLE (1) is hard to get a gauge on, hard to suggest at this stage. UPTOWN LAD (4) is fitter for the first up run and is capable of better. THAT’S NOT MY GAIT (7) was superb in her most recent win, her last couple have been better and normally races well when hitting a purple patch and LUVAFLAIR (8) is so consistent but 50m is a hard task against a nice lineup.

Tips: 6 5 3 7

Suggested Bet: MAJESTIC GA GA (6) to win.

Race 9

DIVAS SPIRIT (7) is a nice pickup for the Hayden Reeves stable, his form was solid for a race of this nature and looks very hard to beat in this. DEAR DOLLY (4) won a trial in moderate time but won with something in hand, keep safe in her return run. NORTHERN SOUL (9) has ability but is still learning the caper, has plenty of high speed. CAPPY THE FIREY (5) is getting closer, but the draw is tricky. IDONTWANABAPIRATE (6) may improve in this. WAHINE TOA (8) has been ok although the start to her races is a big issue.

Tips: 7 4 9 5

Suggested Bet: DIVAS SPIRIT (7) to win.
