Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on April 29, 2025April 29, 2025 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 GIVE ME JOY (1) is still learning the caper, seems to focus better with a sit at this stage but from the draw the temptation will be there to lead again, seems to be short enough for what we have seen but just needs to focus to get the victory. WELLOILED (2) first up for the new stable but did trial well for Hayden Reeves and think he could run a good race here. ALTAR (4) has ability and was a recent trial winner, just needs a touch of luck from the draw. DANGER (8) has always been a horse I’ve had a bit of time for, include in novelties on return. IDONTWANABEAPIRATE (7) can improve in this. Tips: 1 2 4 8 Suggested Bet: WELLOILED (2) each way. Race 2 Open race. Favoured horses have convictions with STRIKE MASTER (5) always close enough to be considered but is finding it hard to break through. JUSTLIKE TURBO (8) returns from a wide draw but is capable. THIS TIME JACKO (1) has the draw but hasn’t won since the start of 2024. Happy to play a bit of value with ZUEDE (10) who will need some luck but is racing well, major player if he can get into the clear. HURRICANEHOPE (2) is improving and won’t be far away in this from the draw. REG LAWSON (12) looks better suited in this grade and can do some work. LUKES MISTAKE (11) hit the line well last run and is a novelty chance with JOHNNY LOMBO (9) who needs to overcome the wide draw. Go wider in your novelties and early quaddie’s. Tips: 10 5 8 12 Suggested Bet: ZUEDE (10) each way. Race 3 SPORTING GRACE (3) was solid in her last performance and was looking for a run late, has some gate speed and is a chance of finding the top, will be each way value and worth a look in another open race. TORREVEAN PINKY (5) is racing consistently but is short enough from the draw and with her racing style. FOLLOW MY STRIDE (12) is a winning chance just needs a few things to go right from the draw. VYBRANT (2) has been elevating in recent runs, especially with her gate speed, keep safe. BONSTAR (6) must overcome an awkward draw with BETTERTHAN SECRET (7) but both are capable. SHES A MARE (9) comes in fresh and has plenty of high speed but might need this run and a wide draw over a mile presents difficulty. Tips: 3 5 12 2 Suggested Bet: SPORTING GRACE (3) each way. Race 4 MEDIEVAL MAN (8) has returned to his better form and can be driven like the best horse, looks to be some speed underneath him and he may have to work again for victory but is good enough. KOOLBARDI NAVAJO (9) is a horse I have plenty of time for and if the pace is on it will suit her and her high speed, expecting a bold preparation going forward. BARBADOS (1) has an improved draw and will run an improved race, go well from the pole and looks a strong novelty chance. MAJOR OVERS (5) could charge across, lead and run a cheeky race in his favoured role. CLASSIC CHOICE (4) gets in well and was a better run on Friday night. EYE BETTER (6) is consistent. Tips: 9 8 5 1 Suggested Bet: KOOLBARDI NAVAJO (9) each way. Race 5 TAKE A HIKE (2) is second up and has the good draw with plenty of early speed, should work to the lead and looks hard to gun down in this. ALFREDI (5) may have something to say about the lead early and can get a little bit keen, that’s my main concern for TAKE A HIKE (2) punters. JILLIBY JAKE (1) has drawn to get a good run and is always a novelty player. SUNDANCER RAINBOW (6) is racing well and just needs a touch of luck, could be some speed on which will suit her, strong each way contender. ALEXANDRA THEGREAT (10) is racing in good form but will find it harder off the back row. BIG BOZZ (9) not the worst chance from a tough draw. Tips: 2 6 1 10 Suggested Bet: TAKE A HIKE (2) to win. Race 6 ELITE FLEET (9) looks to be a smart type, continues to improve nicely through the preparation and looks to have a good amount of depth. Can win the race doing the work in the event. THE BETTOR SIDE (8) will be the testing material and can use the slightly better draw to his advantage, should run a big race. MYSTA MOON WALKER (6) has come back in decent form, good race for him to earn in. STAR OF ORION (3) was disappointing, in good time last week, could improve, novelty chance with SHECANPLAY (1) who wasn’t a bad effort last time out. CAPTAIN PAPRIKA (5) and THE MERRY MAKER (7) have shown promise to be included into novelties. Tips: 9 8 6 3 Suggested Bet: ELITE FLEET/THE BETTOR SIDE to Exacta. Race 7 Not a lot of exposed form to work with here. CRUNCH THE NUMBERS (5) is much better suited this grade, returned in a hot race and finished down the track but will derive plenty of benefit off that run and looks suited here. REPOSSESSION (2) was a solid effort from the breeze last time out and this is no harder but could come up short in the market. CANELO (6) has shown promise before and this grade suits, will be running on. MY SALINA (1) can be an improver from the draw. SUKHOVEY WINDCHIME (3) is second up and could perform decent in this. DAMAGE DONE (7) is not the worst but has a tricky draw and he’ll need his best. Tips: 5 2 6 1 Suggested Bet: CRUNCH THE NUMBERS (5) each way. Race 8 Call me crazy, but I am very keen on GRAND MAJESTIC BELLS (10), where is my logic? Well, I don’t think I have any tipping this, Call me Dennis Denuto, it’s all about the vibe. In all 4 runs back from a spell, she has galloped BUT her last run she trotted the best I think I’ve seen this preparation, and she only galloped when she was boxed in which has always been a problem for her. I think she can overcome the field and win the race but of course, she is fraught with danger. MAJESTIC GA GA (8) will come up ridiculously short for a horse who galloped last run and is unplaced in 5 stand runs, mostly for doing things wrong. BETTY BOOTZ OFF (7) comes in fresh; she is capable but likely will need the run, a win still wouldn’t surprise. KYVALLEY CLICHY (9) was solid in a return win and should be further improved and is still value. TILTHESUNSETS (1), BEE BEE BEROC (2) both novelty chances. ELISH STAR (4) needs a safe getaway, but the class of horse suits this trotter. Tips: 10 8 7 9 Suggested Bet: GRAND MAJESTIC BELLS (10) to win. Market Market
