Matt Young’s Saturday Bunbury Preview Posted on April 11, 2025April 11, 2025 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 The Justin Prentice duo look to dominate this event. RUBY LOVERA (7) was the winner of the Diamond Classic at odds in her 2yo preparation, a good lead in here is that Gary Hall Jnr has elected to drive her over the stable mate, POPPYONTHEBEACH (6) who was a last start winner and looked solid in that performance. SHOOBEES DOUBLE (3) didn’t offer much on return but is a better horse and has a nice draw to improve. GIRL OF BRIGHTNESS (4) has shown enough to throw into your novelties on return with consideration to GELSOMINO AMAL (5) and VILLAGE DEE JAY (8). Tips: 7 6 3 4 Suggested Bet: RUBY LOVERA (7) to win. Race 2 CAPTAIN SAID SO (10) has come back in terrific order and this looks a suitable assignment, can do work at different stages and looks the one to beat. The big threat in the race is MY SWEET ADDICTION (6) who is really coming into her own, she can do work and has elevated nicely as of late, could work to the front and give a tonne of cheek. PAY HOMAGE (4) is a forgive and forget last time out, his form had been strong and expecting him to continue that path and run well. CAPTAIN PAPRIKA (8) needs some luck from the draw but if he sees daylight, he can run into the money. ROAD STAR (7) has been disappointing, hard to suggest from the draw, but trainer Chris Voak does do a good job with his team. Tips: 10 6 8 4 Suggested Bet: CAPTAIN SAID SO/MY SWEET ADDICTION to Quinella. Race 3 FUNKY MUSIC (3) absorbed pressure last time out and was just found wanting late, has plenty of early speed and can get across to the lead and looks a decent chance in this. DOUSEEME (7) has shown promise last time in, tough draw after such a long time away but must be respected. APOLOGIZE (4) is racing consistently and can get close enough to the speed to be considered for the novelties. ELEPHANT ROCK (1) is nicely draw and shouldn’t be too far away. PRIDDAH (9) and JAMIE KIM (12) have tricky draws to overcome but both racing well. Tips: 3 7 4 1 Suggested Bet: FUNKY MUSIC (3) each way. Race 4 FOLLOW ROCKNROLL (7) was a brave effort last time out when punching the breeze against Longreach Bay who is in career best form. This Brian Wheeler trained gelding will have to overcome the wide draw, but he is showing depth and versatility, and I think he can get the job done. CALLMEWHATUWANT (5) has been racing in top form, not beaten far in recent runs and will perform strongly again. GREVIS (8) just needs an element of luck, but he has come back well and he is very quick. MASTER LEIGHTON (2) is consistent and will look to find the top, will have options from there. CHILLIN (9) should be kept safe, now under the care of Corey Peterson and AUCKLAND JET (10) will be running on at value. Tips: 7 5 8 2 Suggested Bet: FOLLOW ROCKNROLL (7) each way. Race 5 THE BIG KABOOSH (8) is starting to find his groove, he looks to have ability and is still learning about the caper, wouldn’t want to dive into too short a quote but it looks a solid race for him to win again. VYBRANT (1) burnt hard last run to hold a forward spot, best she has begun out from the inside draw and looks a solid each way chance. COURAGE OF LOMBO (2) has good speed and looks the likely leader and should run well here. RIGGERS RIVER (3) can be an improver, but he lacks tactical speed which really hurts his positioning. GALEOCERDO CUVIER (7) has a tough draw but is suited in this grade. Tips: 8 1 2 3 Suggested Bet: VYBRANT (1) each way. Race 6 SHOOBETCHYA (6) has shown promise and comes into this fresh, has a bit of versatility from what has been seen so far and looks a strong chance. BELIEVE IN BETTOR (2) has been two from two in trials and looks to have ability, should run well here. PARAGLIDER (1) looks an improver from the draw. WILD WINDS (4) and AUSSIE CAPTAIN (5) both have chances in their debut runs. Tips: 6 2 1 5 Suggested Bet: SHOOBETCHYA (6) to win. Race 7 EL RAES GIRL (4) was impressive for her first win for new trainer Aiden De Campo and looks hard to beat again here, small field suits and she has good high speed. SHES SUPER CHARGED (3) looks the likely leader and will run a bold race. OUR BLUE DIAMOND (2) was decent on debut and has drawn well again. AELLO (1) looks next best by virtue by the draw. Tips: 4 3 2 1 Suggested Bet: EL RAES GIRL (4) to win. Market Market
