Matt Young’s Saturday Albany Preview Posted on January 2, 2026January 2, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 REELEM INN (8) looks well suited here and the draw is a plus as well, can follow through and settle close enough to the lead and looks set to run a big race. WESMEDAD (3) has good early speed and stuck it out well against Sheer Rock Lady when chasing from the breeze, looks the likely leader and should give them something to chase. ADDA LOMBO (7) just needs a touch of luck, but this horse is racing well and is ready to break through. WORLD COMBINATION (2) was a better effort last time out and comes in with novelty claims with SAVE THIS DANCE (5). Tips: 8 3 7 2 Suggested Bet: WESMEDAD/ADDA LOMBO/REELEM INN to Trifecta. Race 2 FUNKY MUSIC (3) wasn’t beaten all that far after burning exceptionally hard to get the top last time out, does step up to the middle distance but I think she can find a softer lead here and that run could bring her on further, looks the likely leader and hard to beat. DEE JAYS BIG BOY (8) was well driven last time out and look to have every chance, will follow through nicely and get a strong crack at them here. NEVERTELLMETHEODDS (5) has a tougher draw to work with tonight and may have to do some work but is racing well. THE FREELANCER (1) has yet to fire this time in but may improve to novelty standards from the draw. SPEED FORCE (4) and THEJEWELINHEREYE (6) can feature but draws make it more challenging. Tips: 3 8 5 1 Suggested Bet: FUNKY MUSIC (3) to win. Race 3 Open race. TUX AND TAILS (1) has the draw and looks to bounce back to his better form, he has been racing soundly without really featuring. MY GRAND ANGUS (7) was a good effort last time out, but he is a horse who I prefer out in the open and up on speed, so the barrier has concerned me just a touch. FOLLOW THE MUSIC (5) was a good win last time out and did it at both ends, likely heads forward and should be prominent again as he is holding good consistency. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE (6) was driven like the best horse last time out and won well, this is a rise in grade overall. GOTA GOOD WARHOL (3) is never far away but draw isn’t favourable to his chances. KEPTAIN COURAGEOUS (2) will be looking for a soft run but can be included in your novelties. Tips: 7 5 1 2 Suggested Bet: MY GRAND ANGUS (7) each way. Race 4 MAJOR FREEWAY (9) is low flying now, this big horse has been working hard in his races and sticking on well, tonight he can watch things unfold before being put into it and expecting him to go close. POCKETFUL OF OPALS (2) has the nice draw and caught the eye in a moderate quarter home last time out, her last couple have been decent and she’s a good on speed type. BAZAAR PACKAGE (3) returns and has good ability, keep safe but she can be fiery at times. REBLINE (4) could improve off the front row, she has been racing just soundly since going back to the great southern. TUBBS FARQUHAR (6) had no luck last time out and form prior has been solid, tough draw but probably heads forward, still not convinced his stablemate DEL BOCAVISTA BAY (5) is back to his better form yet. WATCH ME WAVE (7) has a tricky draw to overcome and same said for the stablemate THE WAND WAVER (10). Tips: 9 2 3 7 Suggested Bet: MAJOR FREEWAY (9) to win. Race 5 SHES MY LITTLE GEM (6) wasn’t disgraced last time out and gets another opportunity here; she did have every chance and is now getting into a category of have had a few chances to break through, last chance with me. SUB MARINER (1) is not at his best but could be an improver from the draw, races well on speed. HEAVENLY BLISS (7) has the lovely draw and shouldn’t be too far away. BLIND EDITION (8) is racing well but he is a tricky horse to follow, overall, his consistency has been nearly the best in his career. SANFORD BART (9) was a return to form last start and should run on again. Tips: 6 1 7 8 Suggested Bet: SHES MY LITTLE GEM (6) to win. Race 6 UP AND ALIVE (2) should lead and win, simples. Last run was run down by the in form Rocky Maguire and she is now fourth up into the preparation, has the speed to lead and control, the distance is perfect and she should win. DEKLA DIVA (1) gets the lovely draw, had a look at them late and wasn’t beaten all that far but didn’t really ping when seeing daylight, she is a decent place chance here. ALTA EXPRESS (6) creates interest, has shown promise and Jemma Collins does a good job with her small stable, keep safe on return. NORTHERN SOUL (9) will be running home well. NINETYMILE BEACH (7) is a novelty chance from the good draw and finding it hard to work out WHEEL FAST (5), he is a novelty chance maybe? Tips: 2 6 1 9 Suggested Bet: UP AND ALIVE (2) to win. Race 7 DEVIL MAN (6) caught the eye on debut but must overcome a wide gate here, showed good early speed and Trent Wheeler has been known to launch one from time to time, could charge across and run a big race here taking on maiden company. PURELY PANDEMIC (8) looks an improving type and should follow through from the back line and go well. ALTA GABBANA (9) is currently in my sin bin, three starts ago ran well at Bunbury and caught my eye but hasn’t lived up to that thought since then, keep safe as I can see ability there. MISS MARCOPOLO (3) went quickly at Busselton before getting tired, normally races decent on speed, novelty chance with LOWLANDS BEACH BOY (2) and ON GOLDEN ROAD (1) who wasn’t a bad effort last time out and has the draw to feature. Tips: 6 8 9 1 Suggested Bet: DEVIL MAN (6) to win. Market Market
