Glenn Ingram’s Saturday Geelong Preview Posted on January 2, 2026January 2, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 Speed is moderate. The local VELLASMACHINE was scratched from Flemington to be saved for this, ridden too close to the speed at Geelong last start, after being caught wide. With more luck here ridden quiet he can return to the winners stall. DARKBONEE received a great ride to score at Sandown Lakeside, may push forward from the wide alley. MISLIGHT is fresh out of maiden grade, she box-seated on that ocassion, the map is friendly and deserves respect. JUMPINMYCAR won a moderate maiden, potential for further upside. Selections: 2,1,10,8 Suggested Bet: VELLASMACHINE each way RACE 2 LEONCHROI is extremely well-placed in this event down in grade, impressive in defeat with 60 kilos in the inferior ground at Pakenham and maps to be forward of midfield and in the right spot. CALYPSO KING was rated to perfection at Moe, likely leader again rising sharply in class and distance, HOT TOO GO goes up a level and was solid here last time out presenting to win and beaten by the momentum runners outside of him. EAGLE ANGEL had circumstances against in a stronger race at Pakenham, also in the mix. Selections: 9,7,3,1 Suggested Bet: LEONCHROI win RACE 3 GHANA’S KHAN is easy to like coming out of the hot juvenile stable of Ciaron Maher, the Street Boss filly looks a natural runner she can go forward or settle in behind and should be strong late. LUCKY BROOK is a forward type on debut for Greg Eurell, fought back after being headed in a recent jumpout in a promising sign towards her chances. MOANA SPIRIT was friendless in betting at her debut in SA and ran straight past the lead pair in the straight, hard to line up that small field into this. TORTURE also has race experience and has jumped out well at Pakenham to resume. Selections: 8,9,4,1 Suggested Bet: GHANA’S KHAN win RACE 4 ROYAL RENDEZVOUS was very impressive and showed a likeable will to win from off the speed on debut at Werribee, he will need to repeat the effort from another wide draw but is ensured of a fast tempo. FARAWAY DREAM was scratched from a deep fillies & mares race at Flemington for this against her own age. Showed grit to win at her 2nd race start up in grade, likely to control the tempo and take beating. MISS OLE was scratched from Flemington, she’s jumped out well to resume, her 2YO form hard to line up. JOB DONE keeps winning albeit narrowly last time out, hard to see any improvement into this. Selections: 9,4,2,1 Suggested Bet: ROYAL RENEZVOUS win RACE 5 Hardest race of the day, angles everywhere. MERRIGOLD has been set some ambitious tasks so far this campaign. Tried hard at Pakenham, no match for a progressive winner. This is the easiest field she’s contested and gets her chance to win a race. DAVIDA was mighty impressive dictating terms from the front at Cranbourne, Radley’s 3kg claim a bonus for this stronger race. AHHA AHHA is an enigma, her best is capable, too far back at Cranbourne, the inside draw makes things harder. ILLYIVY had one jumpout leading in this prep and got a long way back, can improve sharply second-up. Selections: 1,11,5,4 Suggested Bet: None RACE 6 No speed engaged. HARRY’S YACHT backs up after a disappointing performance at Cranbourne when heavily-backed, wanting to lay in and wasn’t genuine to the line. Jamie Melham takes over and may roll to the front in a race without any natural speed runners. NDOLA races off the pace, with apprentice Jackson Radley engaged could land a pair or two closer, he’s been contesting stronger races than what he faces here. CODIGO needs it dry, he’s been a model of consistency all preparation, the end of 1400m is his query. MORRYL MORAL is a talented gelding, returns from Sydney where he failed to fire, latest jumpout encouraging. Selections: 5,1,9,10 Suggested Bet: None RACE 7 RED GALAXY is a good fresh horse resuming for Greg Eurell, jumpouts suggest he’s come back in great order, big track suits, 1100m may be on the sharp side. BIG SWINGER was super in defeat chasing with the big impost, he’s well-placed in this claiming 2kg, the draw means he’ll have to give up ground early. CARBANADOS is a third-up winner previously, an interrupted campaign this time in and can mix his form, won his Australian debut at this course. NAVAL ACADEMY will give a sight on-speed. Selections: 5,1,2,4 Suggested Bet: RED GALAXY 1 x 3 RACE 8 OPENING ADDRESS buckled badly when asked to quicken at Cranbourne, reportedly pulled up sore on the firm track and worth another chance on form prior. HOLYMANZ comes off a Werribee Cup victory and is the class factor, if he can repeat the effort he has a good map to win again. ST LAWRENCE showed a return to form at Sandown Lakeside chasing strongly from off the speed, likely to be back and buried and needs luck. RESET THE JAZZ comes off a let-up and likes to roll forward and OCEAN BEYOND can hit the line hard if the speed is on. Selections: 7,1,2,9 Suggested Bet: OPENING ADDRESS each way RACE 9 GRACIE’S RAIN is a mare in career-best form and finds a good opportunity for some black type on her page staying at the 1200m. Under set weights and penalties she gets a senior rider on and will again take running down off the front. BIANCELLI raced flat second-up at 1000m and couldn’t reel in the speedy winner, up to 1200m is a positive. Melham & Waller strike hot when combining particularly at this course and CIGAR FLICK is a genuine winning chance switching states, tricky draw to overcome. REGAL TYCOON has made winning a habit at the lower levels and steps up in class. Selections: 5,15,1,10 Suggested Bet: GRACIE’S RAIN 1 x 3 RACE 10 With only modest speed predicted, the in-form SUPERNIMA finds a winnable race, caught wide just off the speed last time, expect her sent to the front here with stable rider Emily Pozman replacing Luke Cartwright and given her chance. BOTANICAL BOY was dominant from a midfield position here last time, he goes up in grade and meets a strong field, pattern against. PUGLIA can bounce back after striking a wet track at Ballarat, she’s having a good prep and returns to a firmer surface. This looks a set play for FIGLIO D’ARGENTO third-up as they’ve done with him previously, drawn well. Selections: 6,12,16,14 Suggested Bet: SUPERNIMA win ROUGHIE: R7#5 RED GALAXY Market Market
