Matt Young’s Friday Busselton Preview Posted on December 24, 2025December 24, 2025 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 ALFA JESS (3) had no luck last time out when running into bother before getting home strongly and should find this suitable, just needs a safe getaway (tale of the evening!) and can keep the advantage and be hard to hold out. BULL SHARK BETTY (6) was better in her most recent run, she is a nice type who has just lost her way a touch, expecting a bold showing from her here. THREE FLAMES (2) capable of giving them something to catch if she could lead. AKABAH (4) has ability but is a big horse who can be erratic, a few of those traits don’t normally bode well at Busselton. Tips: 3 6 2 1 Suggested Bet: ALFA JESS (3) to win. Race 2 Open race. THE PROTOTYPE (3) has put together some solid performances in recent runs and has an advantage over some rivals; with a safe beginning I think she will be hard to catch. FOLLOW MY STRIDE (7) is racing soundly enough, had no luck recently and is a previous winner at this track and should perform well even off the 40m. SLOANIE BELL (5) creates interest with her first run here in the West, has won 2 of her last 3. FUEGO CRUZADO (6) and I LIKE WHAT I SEE (8) both capable but down on their best form, could improve here. Tips: 3 7 6 5 Suggested Bet: THE PROTOTYPE (3) to win. Race 3 JOEYS ON A ROLL (1) worked hard last time out and was only narrowly beaten, with a safe getaway he can pounce on the lead and looks hard to run down in this. TELL ITIN HEAVEN (2) is the only other runner off the front line and can get in the money. RAMBO RABBIT (9) will head forward at some stage and is racing well and is a strong staying type. HUGHEY (7) is not particularly fond of the standing starts but is racing well. MOTOR ON LILLY (5) and MOTOR ON JESSIE (6) both first up for a long time, may need the run. EXTINCTION (4) capable but needs a safe getaway to get into a decent position. Tips: 1 2 9 4 Suggested Bet: JOEYS ON A ROLL (1) to win. Race 4 DAWSON (10) is a horse who can overcome the 50m handicap, he has been racing stronger and looks hard to hold out, very talented type to grace the Busselton course. ALFA PRINCE (9) won a recent standing start event two starts ago, he is racing well and wasn’t disgraced last time out, looks the main danger with a safe getaway. BILLYJAMES (4) returns and is a big horse, another attribute which isn’t normally advantageous around Busselton. MISTER SAUVAGE (1) is a place chance, races better on speed. IDEAL WHITBY (7) can be included in novelties, but he is hard to catch currently. Tips: 10 9 1 4 Suggested Bet: DAWSON (10) to win. Race 5 This is an open race. FRANCO MECCA (7) has been performing well without much luck and gave him a big chance of getting into the money here, think he will run a good race in this. AWAITINGINSTRUCTIONS (9) had a strong Collie campaign and is well suited to the stands and is a previous Busselton Cup winner, keep him safe. MYDADTHETERROR (1) not at his absolute best but could be given a good showing in the lead with a safe getaway. GEE SMITH (8) is coming in fresh but is capable and IM THE BEST (10) is off a longer break and was flying at this circuit 12 months ago. Tips: 7 1 9 8 Suggested Bet: FRANCO MECCA (7) to win. Race 6 RIPPER VIEW (5) was excellent in defeat last time out and is now third up from a freshen up, she was a dual winner at the track last season, and this really looks her race, only concern is she appears to not like having her picture taken this year. FRANKENSTEINSBRIDE (7) had a good campaign last time out and might need this run but should feature in the run. CAPTAINS COTE (5) could run a better race; she had a long time away and just needs more racing. SATANS PRINCESS (2) will likely be fitter for the first run back and can feature in the money. Tips: 5 7 6 2 Suggested Bet: RIPPER VIEW (5) to win. Market Market
