It Pays To Follow Posted on June 6, 2023June 6, 2023 | Posted by Digby Beacham BREAD TO FLIRT Saturday, June 3 @ Belmont Park BREAD TO FLIRT: A wonderful return to racing by this mare. The daughter of Gingerbread Man is a quality wet tracker and showed her effectiveness with a little juice in the track last Saturday, stomping home from last on the turn over 1000m to finish a one-length second to the rock-hard fit Ultimate Command. BLACKWATER BAY Saturday, June 3 @ Belmont Park Hadn’t raced for a month and was sporting bar shoes, yet still managed to grab second to one of the form horses in WA in Fear The Wind. It was only his third run this time in and we know how effective Adam Durrant-trained stayers are over the winter months. BITOFMERIT Saturday, June 3 @ Belmont Park A terrific, albeit luckless, return to racing. Had just the one trial leading into the weekend’s assignment. It wasn’t that which proved a hindrance on the weekend. Rather, his tardiness out of the gates and an inability to build momentum in the straight when Lucy Fiore would have liked. ALL DAY SESSION Saturday, June 3 @ Belmont Park Caught the eye in 72+ grade over 1200m after finishing out of the placings in twin 66+ company runs to open his preparation. He was unable to establish a clear path in the straight from the low draw until the bird had flown, yet still ran third behind Rokanori and Vane Tempest. UPPER LIMITS Saturday, June 3 @ Belmont Park Just a really nice horse who has come back in excellent order. Was second-up in the Raconteur Stakes over 1400m on the weekend and disadvantaged by a high draw. Despite that, rattled home from a rearward spot to grab third, less than two lengths off Vast Art. Dual stakes placed, it wouldn’t be a shock if this gelding took out the Belmont Guineas.
