MANDURAH

Race 3 No. 5 Better Call

Promising maiden who shouldn’t be winless for long. Comes out of the maiden series where he was more than handy registering good time in defeat. Small field only helps and he’s a threat here.

Race 4 No. 1 Bro Brann

A good step at box rise is all that’s stopping this bloke from hitting the frame and even winning. Twice a winner here and comes off a string of Northam efforts where he was good without scoring. Goes well now he’s back here.

Race 5 No. 5 Pumping Gas and No. 6 Can’t Catch Kati

Playing for luck here. The 5 flops over to the fence early and waits for runs to appear. Hits the line well and can hit the frame at the same time. The 6 is interesting. She has only ever raced at Cannington with the exception of one start early on. Has a lot of ability but still learning and a little awkward. Resuming however so could surprise.

Race 6 No. 8 Liberty Star

Better boxed inside but her run here last time was good after missing the start. She is capable of spearing out though and while that’s what is needed here, she won’t be for catching if she crossed this field as she can run time on the arm. Box rise the decider.

Race 7 No. 6 Ruby’s Rocket and No. 7 Raven Classified

Good strong FFA here. The 6 is mapped to get a cart straight over if she steps her best. She will be a price but this could get jammy from 1 to 5 so she needs to take advantage. The 7 won well last week and she could come across again at speed and get into this quickly. Either one hitting the arm would see them both very hard to run down. Must lead to win however.

Race 8 No. 1 Frantic Phyllis and No. 5 Bluey Brann

The 1 would be a bird had this been over 488m. Still a monster show in this courtesy of the box and the fact she is racing so well without winning. Just needs to hold up early and she’s the one on the run home. The 5 has a sticky draw but he’s right in this if he can offset that. Superb effort last week over the short trip and will relish the step up again.

Race 9 No. 4 Ohana Ranadi

Resuming but has talent. Will need some luck as she doesn’t go looking for gaps rather than waiting for them to appear. Misses the start but gets to the fence and when the runs come she can drop a decent section. Trust needed but worth a spec EW.

Race 10 No. 1 Roseanna Gundi

Having her first go over the longer trip and looks like she will get it. Steps well but lacks dash over the 400 only to work home again late. Box gives her every chance first crack here at the trip and can figure.
