Greg’s Belmont Preview Posted on May 20, 2016May 23, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Tips RACE 1 Like the David Harrison runners MALILAMGWE and ON THE TURPS. At the slightly better prices on offer I’ll put ON THE TURPS on top. He won a trial by over 5 lengths with the blinkers on. They weren’t used on debut however have been applied in this. He should improve sharply. MALILANGWE was an eye-catcher on debut. The blinkers have been added to his gear as well. VEUVE DE VEGA was luckless on debut. The gate is the concern for him. SPEEDY LADIDI can give a sight on the speed. Numbers – 4 – 3 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – On The Turps and Malilangwe RACE 2 UNIVERSAL LAW looks a standout in this race. He broke through last start with a dominant last to first win. He has more upside and a better turn of foot than these and should be delivering them the same medicine. GLORYLAND was poor last week however he does look the only speed horse in the race. The stable mates GALAXY SON and SASSO’S CIRCUS next best. Numbers – 3 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – Universal Law win RACE 3 Terrific clash of some nice three-year-olds. BRISANTO was huge in chopping down the highly fancied VEGA MAGIC last start and from gate 1 she can has every chance to do the same again. VEGA MAGIC should improve off that effort and he was niggled up front by a horse who was over racing badly. PRESENTATIE should appreciate the rise to 1200m. RIVER DANCE can improve sharply after over racing badly last start. Numbers – 2 – 1 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – Brisanto each-way RACE 4 Darren Macauliffe brings in a two pronged attack to this sprint with his talented pair or REBEL KING and MILITARY REIGN. I’m going for REBEL KING who flies fresh. Last preparation he was a half head behind the likes of Shiedel and Lucky Street in the Summer Scorcher. If he brings that form and can get in from his wide gate he goes very close. MILITARY REIGN blitzed her rivals last week. She can lead and give a big sight again. SECRET NOVA returns from a freshen-up. She was flying at Ascot. RON’S CALL can work into the placings. Numbers – 5 – 8 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – Rebel King save Military Reign RACE 5 There is stacks of speed in this sprint and I am hoping it might set it up for the powerful closing burst of TUDOR BOLT. He won fresh last preparation over this distance and has trialled in a very nice order. With any luck he will be hard to hold out. TRAVELLIN’ backs up from a flat effort last week but this does appear an easier race. PRETENTIOUS CHANT was huge in defeat last start when parking wide throughout. He has again been awarded no favours with the draw. PUTERI JEWEL has trialled well. Numbers – 2 – 3 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet – Tudor Bolt and Travellin’ RACE 6 TEMPORISE ran well first-up off a 1 month lay-off. He can either lead or box seat in this and with any natural improvement he’ll go close. STOCKS has been tuned up for his return with two barrier trials. EXPRESS DANCER should be cherry ripe at his third run back from a spell. MIKI TWO TOES is always a chance at this level. Numbers – 2 – 5 – 10 -3 Suggested Bet – Temporise and Stocks RACE 7 Provincial Championship Final and as is usually the case it is a wide open event. THREESUN will really appreciate a genuinely run race and will carry just the 51kg after the claim for Randy Tan. HIGH LIMIT has been flying at Kalgoorlie. He’s another who will be suited a strong tempo. CHASING CHAOS is in career best form and this looks no harder than the field he beat last start. WESTEROS has claims even from his wide draw. Numbers – 15 – 2 – 1 -16 Suggested Bet – Threesun each-way RACE 8 DARK MUSKET looks just about ready to win. He ran well last start and meets STAR EXHIBIT 3.5KG better at the weights. STAR EXHIBIT does appear the main danger again. He’s been a model of consistency all preparation. SHINTA MANI has come back a treat and can stay all day. SLICK TALKER continues to race well. Numbers – 2 – 3 – 12 – 7 Suggested Bet – Dark Musket win QUADDIE RACE 5 – 2, 3, 5, 10, 11 RACE 6 – 2, 3, 5, 8, 10 RACE 7 – 1, 2, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16 RACE 8 – 2, 3, 5, 7, 12 [button class=”bet-now” style=”btn-default btn-lg” type=”link” target=”false” title=”Bet Now!” link=”https://www.tabtouch.com.au/racing/2016-05-21/pr” linkrel=””]
