Greg’s Ascot Preview Posted on December 30, 2016December 30, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper RACE 1 MOSSERATTI looks very hard to beat in this opening race. He’s grown a leg since stepping up to a staying trip this campaign and if he holds form he wins. PRESELECTION is flying and she has proven she can stay in prior campaigns. QUITE REGAL improved sharply last start. I DONE IT can give a sight on the speed. Numbers – 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – MOSSERATTI WIN RACE 2 DENDEE is suited with the drop back to 1200m. She will sit off the speed and rip home. BRISANTO was solid first-up. She should improve off that run and be very competitive. DEZZIE’S DREAM was a fresh winner last campaign and was asked for little in a recent trial. RUN LIAM RUN produced a slashing effort first-up. Gate 1 may be his undoing. Numbers – 3 – 6 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – DENDEE WIN RACE 3 CAROCAPO was a strong all the way winner on debut. He should fire straight to the front again and be hard to run down. GATTING backs up from a very impressive win last Saturday over 1500m. He can settle closer from gate 2 and Pike rides. MISS LAWRENCE ran well in a similar class or race last start. SWEDISH MEMORIES can produce a big run fresh. Numbers – 6 – 2 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – CAROCAPA WIN RACE 4 COSMIC STORM is two from three in the mares’ series and with a bit more luck she could be going for a clean sweep. She’ll get a cheap run from gate 1 and W Pike just needs to be able to extricate her into clear room and she should win again. DREAMTIME DANCER will likely settle right on the speed and can give a big sight. SILVERSTREAM and ANTIQUE DREAM both have strong place claims. Numbers – 4 – 5 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – COSMIC STORM WIN RACE 5 CRONKITE looks a super chance to break back into the winners’ circle. From gate 3 he can settle much closer to the speed and be hard to hold out. SETTLERS CREEK is bursting to win a race like this. POUNAMU has turned it on of recent times and looks the other winning chance despite the 59.5kg. OUR FINEST MOMENT next best. Numbers – 7 – 10 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – CRONKITE WIN RACE 6 SHADY GRAY had no luck first-up when he found plenty of traffic problems in the straight. The wide gate suits and with clear room to move he should be hard to hold out. THREE VOTES had the blinkers removed in a recent trial and he sat off the speed and showed a terrific turn of acceleration. The blinkers are off for his return indicating connections may be looking to ride him in a similar fashion. PRESENTATIE was asked for little in a recent trial. VIKING FORREST is always a chance at this level. Numbers – 8 – 5 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – SHADY GRAY AND THREE VOTES RACE 7 VOLKOFF looks perfectly placed to chalk her first feature race win. She’ll be park midfield, get room to move mid straight and be very hard to hold out. DREAM LIFTER flies fresh and has trialled in a terrific order for his return. MALIBU STYLE was given the gun run in the Crawford and got the job done. KING’S TROOP is an ex eastern states entire who brings plenty of intrigue into the race. Numbers – 11 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – VOLKOFF AND DREAM LIFTER RACE 8 Wide open TABTOUCH PERTH CUP. It should be run at a strong clip with Matthieu Autier making it a true staying test a long way from home on FATHOMS OF GOLD. Like the way ZARANTZ has been progressing this campaign. He had no luck in the Tatersall’s Cup and then ran well in the Ted Van Heemst. He should be smothered up from gate 4 and be in a position to strike approaching the straight. KIA ORA KOUTOU is the deserving favourite on the back of a very strong win in the JRA Trophy. TRADESMAN has raced without luck all campaign. IHTSAHYMN is racing like the 2400m wil be ideal. Numbers 15 – 8 – 14 – 2 Suggested Bet – ZARANTZ SAVE KIA ORA KOUTOU RACE 9 Very tough finish to the program. BARAKI BEATS is racing well without breaking through. He should be able to settle closer to the speed and get his chance in this 1500m handicap. ROMELO produced a huge run fresh last campaign. The blinkers go on POINT and that may sharpen him up. LIBERY RISE will be finishing strongly. Numbers – 2 – 8 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – BARAKI BEATS AND ROMELO Bet Now!
