Greg Previews Thursday’s Pinjarra Meeting Posted on May 19, 2016May 19, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 This is a very tough race to assess with a host of debutantes. Paul Harvey rides HERRON POINT for Lindsay Smith. He has showed enough in the trials to suggest he can run a race on debut. KILKENNY JOE has been close up at both starts and has drawn to get the run of the race. ACQUAINTANCE was good on debut in town. ALMAFI LASS was well supported on debut and made late ground suggesting the 1200m will suit. Numbers – 7 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – Herron Point and Kilkenny Joe RACE 2 Another race which looks very open. FRANKLY SCARLETT got a long way back on debut and made good late ground. From a batter draw expect him to be ridden more positively and he has each-way claims. SONG OF WAR looks very close to a break through win. ELLORA MAY has to step up to the 1300m however she has plenty of ability and her two seconds this campaign have been behind sharp gallopers. ATLANTA BLUE resumes with the benefit of two trials and Pike rides. Numbers – 7 – 2 – 9 -3 Suggested Bet – Frankly Scarlett and Song Of War RACE 3 Really keen on the debutante PLAY FOR PLEASURE in this maiden. The blinkers were added to his gear at his last trial and he really turned it on winning by 6.5 lengths and seemingly with plenty in reserve. SHURIKEN STAR looks the danger. She found the drop back in distance a negative last start. Back up to 1300m suits. MYTHICAL SAGA ran well on debut before being caught wide. MERITOCRACY has claims. Numbers – 6 – 10 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – Play For Pleasure RACE 4 This maiden looks close to a raffle. LADY EMILY has been racing consistently at Albany. She’s rises sharply in distance but should beat the majority of these on ability alone. TIME TO DINE looks like he will be suited over the trip. FLEDERMAUS ground away over a similar journey last start and Pike sticks. LUNA CHIC will settle handy to the speed and Harvey rides. Numbers – 7 – 3 – 6 – 9 RACE 5 DIXIE WIN ran well on debut when tracking up the middle of the straight course. This time around she has drawn to land on the outside rail which is a big positive. SPIN DRIFTER drops back in trip and the blinkers comes off. He’s another drawn the right side. GOLD SHIMMER gives a good sight on speed. PUYSIEX has claims if he gains a start. Numbers – 10 – 6 – 3 – 14 Suggested Bet – Dixie Win RACE 6 YOU’RE UP was impressive maiden winner when resuming up the straight and then ran well in town. Back to this level he looks hard to beat. MODERN TOUCH has ability and was asked for little in a recent trial. VITAL FLAME has won at this track/distance previously. WELL SPOKEN MAN resumes from a spell for a new a trainer in David Harrison. He has always shown plenty of ability previously. Numbers – 4 – 7 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – You’re Up and Modern Touch RACE 7 GENEROUS CHOICE looks to have found the ideal race to break her winning drought. She has attacked the line at her last two starts and is giving the impression the 2000m will be ideal. ANCIENT SPELL is a tough old galloper in form. I DONE IT races well at this circuit. AIN’T BAD is down in class. Numbers – 6 – 2 – 7 – 13 Suggested Bet – Generous Choice win RACE 8 SECRET MINX has returned to her best form since re-joining the stables of Mark Nelson at Albany. Glenn Smith will have her parked right over the speed and she takes some beating on current form. MISS CYCLONIC is loaded with ability. She was asked for little in a recent trial. MEGAFACTORY finds it hard to win but will be around the mark again. NICCATRICE next best. Numbers – 4 – 11 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – Secret Minx and Miss Cyclonic RACE 9 Very competitive finish to the program. UPTOWN FUNK was well supported first-up and was able to overcome traffic problems when breaking his maiden. The horse he beat won its subsequent start. The draw is sticky but if he can find a position midfield with cover he can win. PINSSON resumes from a lengthy spell. He has trialled well. AWESOME AS will be finishing powerfully. WICHITA LINESMAN was well supported first-up. He can improve sharply. Numbers – 9 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – Uptown Funk and Pinsson QUADDIE RACE 6: 2 – 4 – 7 – 8 RACE 7: 2 – 6 – 7 – 13 RACE 8: 4 – 7 – 11 RACE 9: 1 – 3 – 5 – 6 -11 Bet Now!
