Gloucester Park 29 January – Harness Preview Posted on January 29, 2016February 1, 2016 | Posted by Trent Cooper Trent Cooper’s Preview Race 1: DANIEL SMEDLEY WESTBRED MS PACE ASTRA BOY (12) is in career best form with two wins from his last four starts. He had a nice run and finished too well for Macon Georgia before running a solid 3rd to Bhagwan last start and can overcome his back line draw. LOADED AUSSIE (1) had every possible chance last week and couldn’t run a place but this field is weaker and he is consistent. BALLAS AROCKSTAR (8) has been tackling tougher assignments and should be finishing strongly. ICY GRIN (5) broke through for a win last start and could work to the lead here. Tips: 12 1 8 5 Suggested Bet: ASTRA BOY (12) to win. Race 2: GRACE SMEDLEY MS PACE BETTER THAN MONEY (1) has been racing well in stronger company in very quick times. He will have no trouble leading early and should give a great sight. MIGHTY FLYING THOMAS (2) has been close up from wide draws at his last two starts and will appreciate settling close to the lead tonight. IMA TRAGEDY (10) and MACON GEORGIA (4) fought out the finish of a similar event last week but neither are drawn as well tonight. Tips: 1 2 10 4 Suggested Bet: BETTER THAN MONEY (1) each way. Race 3: WILL SMEDLEY MS PACE MACHTU (3) performed well without winning during the recent Nights Of Thunder series, working hard in both heat and final and finishing close up in very quick times. He is well drawn tonight and can win with a better run in transit. ERSKINE RANGE (5) was a very good 2nd to Copagrin first up before being unsuited when down the track in the Northam Cup and will be hard to beat, particularly if he can find the front. BRONZE SEEKER (1) won well in easier company last week but is always dangerous from this draw. TI AMO FRANCO (6) is flying but may not be about to find the top tonight. Tips: 3 5 1 6 Suggested Bet: MACHTU (3) to win. Race 4: STEPHANIE SMEDLEY HANDICAP SS PACE EMINENCE GRISE (1) jumped to the front last week and ran a solid 2nd to FIREBOMB (12). He meets his main rivals from that day on better terms and should give a great sight. THREE BLIND MICE (8) didn’t look comfortable in the run when beaten as favourite last start but has since trialled well. IM RIDDICK (11) and FIREBOMB (12) both performed well in the race won by the latter last week but go back 10 and 20 metres respectively tonight. Tips: 1 8 11 12 Suggested Bet: EMINENCE GRISE (1) each way. Race 5: ILWAN MARES MS PACE QUITE A DELIGHT (2) is a quality mare who has resumed from a spell with three dominant victories. She rises in class tonight but is well drawn and looks the one to beat. LEDA MCNALLY (9) is the class mare of this field and was a comfortable winner in a lot stronger company last week. She is drawn poorly tonight but will run a big race. BONNY UNDER FIRE (1) could be a big improver from this draw, while EASTWOOD CRYSTAL (11) should enjoy a nice trail in the moving line and can be dangerous late. Tips: 2 9 1 11 Suggested Bet: QUITE A DELIGHT (2) to win. Race 6: AUSTRALIAN RUGBY LEAGUE IM THEMIGHTYQUINN FINAL THATS RITE (1) has led throughout and recorded dominant victories at his first two runs back from a spell. This field has collectively more depth but he is drawn to repeat the dose. MYNAMESKENNY (6) has won four of his five runs this campaign and must be considered. BURNING (2) was a brave 2nd to THAT’S RITE (1) last start but it is hard to see him turning the tables. ATLASTALONE (8) was very impressive in his heat win but is drawn wide tonight. Tips: 1 6 2 8 Suggested Bet: THATS RITE (1) to win. Race 7: ABBOTT & CO LORD MAYORS CUP MS PACE CYAMACH (1) has won five of his nine starts this campaign and was a comfortable all the way winner over a similar field from this draw two runs back. He started from a wide barrier when a great 2nd last week and is the one to beat. ELEGANT CHRISTIAN (4) was a first up 2nd to CYAMACH (1) when he sat outside that pacer and must be considered. BETTORS FIRE (5) is a proven top-liner who hasn’t produced his best recently but must be respected. MOHEGAN SUN (2) is flying and has the draw to be dangerous at odds. Tips: 1 4 5 2 Suggested Bet: CYAMACH (1) to win. Race 8: NICK BAILEY MS PACE ZACHARIA (2) hasn’t been in peak form but could be the leader here and may get away with this wide open event. He has been racing in stronger company and will appreciate the drop in class tonight. TASMANIAN BROMAC (9) is difficult to line up as he was disappointing last campaign and warmed up for this with a 2nd to My Hard Copy in a Byford trial but was beaten a long way. QTOWN RIP ROARING (5) and AVALON BROMAC (6) are both capable of being in the finish if there is a reasonable tempo up front. Tips: 2 9 5 6 Suggested Bet: ZACHARIA (2) to win. Race 9: SHARON SMEDLEY 3YO MS PACE CHICAGO BULL (7) has improved at each start here and was impressive in breezing and winning in 1.55.9 against a similar field last start. He looks better suited over the longer distance and is clearly the one to beat. CAMPORA (3) chased home Nathans Courage before turning the tables and winning at Bunbury and looks a promising type. STROGANOFF (5) ran on when 2nd in that race and shouldn’t be far away. HARRY HOO (6) has been very consistent including a last start 2nd to CHICAGO BULL (7) but isn’t as well drawn tonight. Tips: 7 3 5 6 Suggested Bet: CHICAGO BULL (7) to win. Race 10: WESTERN FORCE TROTTERS DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP EARL OF CHARITY (10) had been dominant in standing start events before doing things wrong in two mobiles. He won a stand trial in good time since those efforts and is capable of bouncing back despite the 60m handicap. HOT HOLIDAY (9) is getting back to something like his best and will be suited by the longer journey. FRISSON (1) is the only front marker and will give them something to catch if he does everything right. INVASIVE (7) won the WA heat of the Great Southern Stars series two starts back and should be thereabouts. Tips: 10 9 1 7 Suggested Bet: EARL OF CHARITY (10) to win. Bet Now
