Glenn Ingram’s Wednesday Geelong Preview Posted on January 13, 2026January 13, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 Exposed form holds the key. SUSSEX DUCHESS resumes off two jumpouts, the latest at Avoca ridden quiet and hit the line nicely, she went close to breaking her maiden here last time in and finds a suitable race first-up. BURLEIGH was ridden upside down in a fast race at Warrnambool and made no impression. From a better draw, a more positive showing is expected. HAVANA MOON had a good run on-speed last start and was just plain, a place hope in this field. INSPIRING was hammered in betting at Mornington and stopped quickly, needs to lift to match the market support. Selections: 6,2,5,4 Suggested Bet: SUSSEX DUCHESS win RACE 2 Low maiden race. Long time maiden SOMETHINGSOSTRONG was something licked at Seymour first-up, cold ride at the back of the field and weaved between runners in the straight, home in good closing splits, he will give them a start again but can sit closer in a race lacking speed and depth. CRACKERJACK HATCH was solid in defeat but no match for the speedy winner at Kerang first-up, stable flying, should be in the mix again from an inside draw. TITAN’SPIRIT has one speed and going up in distance helps, hard to make a case for any other runner in this field. Selections: 8,5,3,7 Suggested Bet: None RACE 3 King’s Legacy gelding WONDERDOWNUNDER has caught the eye at the jumpouts and makes his debut for local trainer Danny O’Brien. Tricky draw, the end of 1300m should see him one of the strongest. CELESTIAL ZARA had market expectation on debut after showing speed at jumpouts, slow to begin and just fair to the line, if she can jump better then the lead is up for grabs. SHARETHEPENNIES ran credible races in her 1st campaign, resumes off a jumpout win and looks forward to return. KIRKHOEPASSE debuts for the Ciaron Maher stable and can race handy to the speed, lacked a turn of foot in his latest jumpout. Selections: 4,8,6,9 Suggested Bet: WONDERDOWNUNDER win RACE 4 Local galloper UPOLU is well-placed to breakthrough for a deserving maiden victory. No luck on debut then narrowly beaten at start two, he charged through the line to suggest 1400 is what he wants and finds an ideal race from a good draw. CASHOUT made a solid debut at Seymour in a race that should prove a good form reference, a threat if he can land closer. ZAYYANO started firm in the market on debut at Benalla and was slow out on a day you needed to be forward, still a disappointing effort & vetted clear, jumpouts have been hard to gauge returning as a gelding. FLYING GENTRY was ok on debut, won’t need to have improved to be competitive in this field. Selections: 7,1,9,3 Suggested Bet: UPOLU win RACE 5 EDDYSTONE can repeat his Terang win against a similar field, he was smashed in betting late and proved too good under a hard ride from Will Gordon, he sticks with him. Barrier 1 with his racing style is a niggle. HIGHLAND GLORY is the immediate danger, she made a late charge to no avail at Mornington getting too far back, she was close-up in a stronger race here two back and is racing well. AMIZETTA had support on the Lakeside and settled midfield on a crawl and just whacked away, the pace is only moderate again. The local NICOFFHOME has claims for the minor prize. Selections: 1,7,4,6 Suggested Bet: Exotics with 1,4,7 RACE 6 With a good tempo almost assured BRAVE CAROL is the best of the closing bunch, she attacked the line fresh giving the fit horses too much ground early and can only benefit from the run, extra trip suits. HUGHIE is another well-placed horse for the local trainer Jamie Edwards, consistent all prep and comes right back in grade with a smart 3kg claim, pet trip. LAPLAND kept on the fresh side after winning first-up on the home track, Jamie Mott can have her handy from the wide draw, end of 1100m is the test. Local galloper ZADAR SUNSET has no fresh form of note, jumpouts suggest she’s forward to run well returning off a long break. Selections: 9,4,6,5 Suggested Bet: BRAVE CAROL 1 x 3 RACE 7 Even race. The 4YO gelding TARZING proved worth the patience having jumped out strongly at Flemington as a younger horse. A drifter in betting, he was slow to begin and balanced up early before storming home for an impressive win. Staying at 1300m is the query as he looks every bit a stayer with a bright future. BUTTERNUT PRINCESS caught the eye at the jumpouts and made good ground over 1200m at Cranbourne, bigger track and extra trip help her cause. Further chances to EL TERCERO and GRANDE TERRE with a rider change. Selections: 7,10,2,9 Suggested Bet: None RACE 8 MR BANNOCK appeared ready for a big run first-up after his Caulfield trial and was entered and scratched multiple times since. Expecting a fit horse fresh at 1500m and gets a perfect draw with an in-form stable apprentice. LADY POTATO HEAD has been racing well at the higher level, sure to give them something to chase again, she is vulnerable late in her races so coming back to 1500 may help. LARIO was good first-up at Seymour and expecting further improvement second-up returning to his home circuit. AKA DAKA hard and fit also in the mix. Selections: 11,3,4,7 Suggested Bet: MR BANNOCK 1 x 4 ROUGHIE: R8 #11 MR BANNOCK Market Market
