Glenn Ingram’s Wednesday Caulfield Preview Posted on March 3, 2026March 3, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 Tricky opener. Speed will be on early. CALIFORNIA FLYER has blinkers added, STERNIN handy and they are the likely lead pairing, both have drawn positively. EXIT STRATEGY looks a natural runner at the jumpouts with gate speed and makes her debut for Clayton Douglas, she could potentially cross if ridden aggressive early. INVINCIBLE LOVER has the race experience and a nice drop on the speed runners, watch for her running on late. SPIRIT OF GAIA was good first-up and gets the tempo on to suit. Selections: 3,5,7,9 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 2 PHOEBE BUFFAY caught up in behind a speed battle at Seymour, held up at a key stage and finding one better, rising to 1800m should prove no issue in a race where speed is moderate. Apprentice Holly Durnan booked to ride with a simple assignment on-speed in small field. MR INDEPENDENT let leader get too far away from him at Pakenham and chased hard to nab him on the line, the punters were paid but won’t get away with similar tactics around the Heath. BEST TIME was well-ridden this track/trip last start, apprentice Chris Pang will be looking replicate Mott’s ride with the claim. SUPER SOLAR is ever consistent and not without a chance awaiting the gaps. Selections: 4,3,1,2 Suggested Bet: Quinella 4 & 3 RACE 3 Even bunch of fillies & mares. WRITTEN BLIGH drops in grade after being trapped wide throughout last start and didn’t finish off, she can improve sharply with a better draw and has the claim to assist. SUSSEX DUCHESS has come back an improved mare and learnt how to win, she rises in grade sharply but this isn’t a strong race for the level, maps well landing one out & one back and poised to strike. TORSHEEN ran a good race last start, inside draw is favourable to make the class rise. FIRST FIFTEEN was a soft maiden winner, this will test. Selections: 1,3,4,7 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 4 A $100,000 maiden. I suspect SANTANA is better than what he showed on debut at Flemington. His jumpouts prior to debuting were very impressive! He’s been doing barrier work at Cranbourne with Julien Welsh and partners with Jamie Melham first-up, big watch. MELIAN was no match for a sub winner on debut after a slow beginning, his lack of gate speed means drawing out wide may not be a negative. GENOMIC won his latest jumpout at Cranbourne, his best effort to date, expecting a big debut. OYSTER LANE comes through the right form lines and was well-backed at Pakenham last start, blinkers on may prove the difference. Selections: 7,4,1,5 Suggested Bet: SANTANA win RACE 5 Hardest race of the day. VIANARRA and NAVY NINA come through the same race at Kyneton, the former was tough on-speed and kept fighting for a strong win. Craig Williams will have her in a similar spot from the draw in this. The latter was gasping for air behind the speed and got going late, any improvement into this puts her in winning contention. LOUD CHARLIE can bounce back after finding the Guineas too hot, M Zahra aboard CACHINK is 24 days between runs, he’s honest and will punch up to be handy with his 59kg. RACEY CASEY has an important claim. Selections: 7,3,5,1 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 6 ETERNAL looks set to run a big race first-up for the Waller stable having trialled at this course last week, she has an excellent fresh record and Ben Melham partners from a soft draw. INSAIN HARRY continues to hold his good form for the new stable, to win again he’ll need to push forward although there is speed underneath him. They look the key chances. ATTAIN is racing well, KING TUT watch betting and TURN UP THE NIGHT the lamplighter given a gap since his last start win at Kyneton, may give a sight. Selections: 8,2,6,7 Suggested Bet: ETERNAL win RACE 7 ESQUEL drops back to 1000m which is a positive and has blinkers replacing the winkers, with Jordyn Weatherley aboard she should take catching but there is speed all around her. POINT MOON is a maiden winner at Sale and could come across to sit OSL, she looks progressive. M Zahra jumps aboard stablemate LONSTAR and gets a beautiful run in on the speed map. BARNAGE benefits most from the amount of speed up front, has Chris Pang’s claim but will need luck getting through runners in the straight. Selections: 3,12,7,1 Suggested Bet: ESQUEL win RACE 8 CELERITY was held up at a key stage and that was her undoing here last time, wide draw, she can follow EXCESS across to sit outside lead and take beating. A good race for SHADHVAR coming off impressive work at the trials and jumpouts which is not unfamiliar for her. The noseroll comes off the mare and she has a touch of class, first-up record is poor. NIMBUSTWOTHOUSAND is backing up after striking a soft track at Ballarat, a backmarker so is pattern dependant. JENNYANYDOTS gets a soft run in behind the speed for John Allen, 1100m suits. SOUTHERN CRESCENT keeps on winning, she’s in the mix for this rise in class. Selections: 10,2,1,8 Suggested Bet: CELERITY win Market Market
