Deane’s Saturday Flemington Best Bets Posted on May 5, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 1 NO. 10 WAR LEGEND WAR LEGEND has been racing in strong form and looks the one to beat when he contests the Chairman’s Club Handicap (1800m). The four year old should be at peak fitness following four runs back from a spell which includes his solid last start 6th behind OBSERVATIONAL in the Easter Cup (2000m) at Caulfield on April 15. He drops back slightly in class and distance whilst dropping to 52kg courtesy of Jake Bayliss’ 2kg claim. He is drawn for a cheap run and appeals as one of the better bets of the day. RACE 5 NO. 7 DIVINE QUALITY DIVINE QUALITY made a stunning debut when winning over 1100 metres at Bendigo on April 19 and looks a great winning chance when he runs in the Indian Summer Handicap (1200m). The Robbie Griffiths trained filly sat wide in the run yet proved very strong over the final stages to win by an increasing three lengths and recorded very fast time. She will be improved by that raceday experience and looks well placed again, especially with the benefit of Beau Mertens 1.5kg claim. It’s a competitive race with some promising fillies, however a repeat of DIVINE QUALITY’s debut run should see her proving very hard to beat again. SuperPick - RACE 5 NO. 7 DIVINE QUALITY - Profit Plus – 25% (Win) RACE 9 NO. 7 STEGGLER STEGGLER will be fitter for one run back from a spell and looks a value runner in the True Version Handicap (1600m). The Darren Weir trained import hit the line strongly when finishing 3rd behind ELITE TIGER over 1600 metres at Ballarat on April 12. That was the run of a coming winner and the five year old looks very well placed in this race. He is drawn for a cheap midfield run and top rider Brad Rawiller only needs to find a clear path for STEGGLER and he’s a great winning chance at nice odds. Bet Now
