Deane’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on January 13, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 2 NO. 5 MY SANCTUARY MY SANCTUARY is steadily running into form and looks a good each way chance when she contests the Seascay Handicap (2000m). The Darren Weir trained mare worked home nicely when finishing 2nd behind VANDANCER over 1800 metres at Sandown Hillside on December 24. The longer distance of this race is in her favour and she has been placed at her only try at this track and distance. She is drawn for a good run and looks a value chance in a competitive race. RACE 7 NO. 4 GRANDE ROSSO The feature race of the day is the Chester Manifold Stakes (1400m) and progressive sprinter GRANDE ROSSO looks a strong winning chance. The five year old has been a revelation since joining the Hayes/ Dabernig team having won two of his four starts for the stable. After a dominant win over 1400 metres at the Pakenham city meeting on December 3, the son of Written Tycoon freshened up well to finish a solid 2nd behind LUCKY LIBERTY in the Christmas Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on December 26. The step up in distance looks ideal and in-form rider Regan Bayliss takes the mount which is a bonus. He’s a fit and in-form horse that should run well again. SuperPick - RACE 7 NO. 4 GRANDE ROSSO - Profit Plus – 25% (Win) RACE 8 NO. 5 FLYING LIGHT FLYING LIGHT has been the star of the middle distance ranks this summer and can continue on his winning way when he runs in the Craftsman Handicap (2000m). The four year old has been successful at his past two starts, both over this track and distance in recent weeks. He has a great racing style in that he will race near the pace and will be very tough when asked for the supreme effort. He is shooting for three wins on end and gets every chance to achieve that and appeals as one of the better bets of the day. Bet Now
