Deane’s Flemington Saturday Best Bets Posted on March 10, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 1 NO. 7 DUSTY JACK DUSTY JACK has been in a rich vein of form since joining the Hayes/ Dabernig stable and looks the one to beat again when he contests the Benchmark 84 Handicap (1400m). The five year old has won his past three starts in fine style including a last start victory over 1400 metres at Sandown Lakeside on February 15. This looks an ideal race for him to continue on his winning way and he appeals as one of the better bets on Super Saturday. RACE 2 NO. 9 RED ALTO RED ALTO has always displayed talent but in recent weeks has converted that talent into wins and looks a strong chance again when he runs in the Benchmark 90 Handicap (1800m). The four year old commenced this campaign with a win in maiden class over 1100 metres at Kyneton in December. From that win, he has gone on to score victories at three of his past four runs including a determined win over 1500 metres at Moonee Valley on February 17. He will relish a step up in distance and the spacious Flemington track is in his favour so everything points to RED ALTO continuing on his winning way. RACE 5 NO. 2 I AM A STAR The standout bet of Super Saturday at Flemington is quality filly I AM A STAR when she runs in the Kewney Stakes (1400m). The Shane Nicholls trained filly scored at group one level last spring when she won the Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington last October. Her two runs back from a spell against elite open age sprinters have been excellent and she will appreciate dropping back to fillies grade at set weights against fillies. She is drawn for a sweet run and appears to have a class edge in her rivals; should be winning. SuperPick - RACE 5 NO. 2 I AM A STAR - Profit Plus – 25% (Win) Bet Now
