Deane Lester’s Sandown Best Bets Posted on June 11, 2021June 11, 2021 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 5 NO.5 BEDFORD BEDFORD has returned to racing in good form and looks a strong winning chance when he contests the Open Handicap (1600m). The seven year old was unsuited on a heavily leader biased track when finishing 8th behind PATCH ADAMS over 1700 metres during the Warrnambool carnival before recording a strong finishing third behind YONKERS over 2000 metres at Caulfield on May 29. Whilst he is dropping back in distance, he gets onto his preferred soft track and will relish the spacious Sandown Hillside circuit. BEDFORD wins a race every preparation and won’t get a better chance than this race and represents one of the better bets of the day. RACE 7 NO.13 SEINERS EXPRESS SEINERS EXPRESS is a progressive type from the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable that is on a quick back up when he runs in the 3YO Handicap (1600m) and appeals as the best bet of the day. The son of Shamexpress was held up for a run but stormed to the line when finishing 3rd behind MUSWELLBROOK over 1500 metres at Geelong on June 6. He is already a winner on soft ground, should now be at peak fitness following three runs this campaign and drops 7kg on his last run. He’s a promising horse that looks ready to progress to city class and win. RACE 8 NO.11 ARKHAM KNIGHT Adelaide visitor ARKHAM KNIGHT will be fitter for one run this campaign and looks a great value chance when he contests the Benchmark 84 Handicap (1300m). The seven year old ran a handy first-up 4th behind TOO GOOD TOO HARD over 1200 metres at Murray Bridge on May 22. He will appreciate a step up in distance, appreciates soft ground and champion rider Jamie Kah takes the ride. Whilst it is a competitive race, ARKHAM KNIGHT is primed for a bold showing at nice odds. Market Market
