Deane Lester’s Pakenham Best Bets Posted on December 7, 2018 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 2 NO.4 CASINO FOURTEEN Lightly raced four year old CASINO FOURTEEN has been improved by recent racing and should continue on his winning way when he runs in the Benchmark 70 Handicap (1600m). The son of Casino Prince has had two runs back from a long spell and comes off an impressive win over 1350 metres at Donald on November 18. He should relish a step up in distance and looks to have more upside than his rivals. On a competitive program, CASINO FOURTEEN makes strong appeal as the best bet of the day. RACE 4 NO.12 CREEDENCE The Benchmark 78 Handicap (2000m) looks a competitive affair with several promising types, however the recent form of CREEDENCE cannot be ignored and looks a strong winning chance. The four year old returned from a spell with a luckless 4th over 1400 metres at Geelong on October 24 before scoring a solid win over 1600 metres at Cranbourne on November 9. At his last run, the Hayes/ Dabernig stable drew wide and settled well back before running a brave 2nd behind MR MONACO over 1800 metres at Sandown Hillside on November 28. This time, he is well drawn and gets the benefit of Fred Kersley’s 2kg claim; sure to run well again. RACE 8 NO.3 MR MONEY BAGS The Super VOBIS Gold Bullion (1400m) is a lucrative prizemoney race for Victorian bred horses and MR MONEY BAGS is ready to peak at his third run this campaign. The four year old is a multiple city winner that resumed with an eye-catching 4th behind ORDER OF COMMAND in the Grand Handicap (1100m) at Flemington on November 10. He may have looked a touch plain when finishing a second-up 3rd over 1200 metres at Kilmore on November 25. That run should have improved his fitness and he will relish the extra distance on the spacious Pakenham circuit. He’s a good genuine racehorse that makes each way appeal. Market Market
