Deane Lester’s Moonee Valley Best Bets Posted on November 29, 2019 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 3 NO.4 CAUSEWAY GIRL Talented mare CAUSEWAY GIRL kicks off her campaign when she runs in the Mares Benchmark 84 Handicap (1000m) and looks a very good winning chance. The four year old was below her best in the early part of spring and trainer Clinton McDonald elected to spell the mare with a summer campaign in mind. She had good stakes class form in her previous campaign which is a strong form reference for this race. She ventured to The Valley on Tuesday morning and worked strongly in preparation for this race. In-form rider Jye McNeil takes the mount and CAUSESWAY GIRL appears primed for a big first-up performance. RACE 4 NO.3 MYSTYKO Reliable sprinter MYSTYKO should be ready to peak following two runs back from a spell and looks a strong winning chance when he tackles the Open Handicap (1000m). The six year old signalled that he is close to another win with a solid 2nd in the Doveton Stakes (1000m) at Sandown on November 16. Once he strikes form, MYSTYKO is a very consistent horse for several runs and this race sets up ideally for him. He has been stakes placed at Moonee Valley so he handles the track well and looks a good gamble at nice odds. RACE 8 NO.6 SECRET BLAZE SECRET BLAZE has returned to racing in good form and looks the standout bet of the day when he runs in the Benchmark 90 Handicap (2040m). The four year old did a good job to win over 1600 metres at Morphettville on November 2 and will be further improved by that outing. He will relish a rise in distance and looks very well graded in this race. International rider Barend Vorster ventures from Adelaide to take the mount and he was aboard the son of Sebring at his last start win. The Tony McEvoy trained gelding was taken to The Valley on Tuesday morning and he worked like a winner. He’s a smart stayer that should win again. Market Market
