Deane Lester’s Moonee Valley Best Bets Posted on December 28, 2018 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 3 NO.9 SORA SORA is a progressive type from the Hayes/ Dabernig stable that looks well placed to continue on her winning way when she runs in the 3YO Fillies BM 70 Handicap (1200m). The daughter of I Am Invincible made an encouraging debut when finishing third behind multiple city winner MY PENDANT over 1200 metres at Sandown Lakeside on November 21 before scoring an effortless win over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley on December 7. She used her speed to dominate that race and looks drawn for a good run again. Champion rider Craig Williams is enjoying a great run of form and takes the ride aboard SORA, who appeals as one of the better bets of the day. RACE 5 NO.11 OCEANEX OCEANEX is making strong development in her short career to date and looks a solid winning chance when she contests the Fillies and Mares Benchmark 70 Handicap (1600m). The Mick Price trained filly has only had three starts to date for a win and two placings including a dominant win over 1700 metres at Geelong on December 15. Whilst she is stepping up in class, she drops slightly in weights, gets the services of elite rider Dwayne Dunn and looks to be improving with race experience. She is drawn for a great run and should prove hard to beat. RACE 6 NO.4 MASCULINO MASCULINO struck winning form at Flemington last start and looks a solid winning chance again when he runs in the Open Handicap (2040m). The four year old didn’t have much luck when finishing unplaced in the Kilmore Cup (1600m) on November 25 but quickly regained his true form with a gritty win over 1700 metres at Flemington on December 15. That could have been a bonus win as his best form is over 2000 metres so the extra distance of this race looks ideal. Whilst he is stepping up in class, the four year old looks destined for better class races and can win again. Market Market
