Deane Lester’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on June 5, 2020 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 1 NO.1 PREZADO PREZADO is aiming for a hat-trick of wins down the Flemington 1000 metres straight course when he contests the Jim Beam Hill Plate (1000m) and should prove hard to beat again. The key to the son of Denman producing his best is racing over the shorter trips and appreciating a strong tempo in his races. Whilst Jamie Kah has handled him perfectly in his past two wins, the Ellerton/ Zahra trained gelding loses nothing with champion rider Craig Williams taking the reins. This race sets up well again for PREZADO and he looks one of the better bets of the day. RACE 3 NO.9 PERSAN PERSAN is a lightly raced stayer from the Maher/ Eustace stable that is improving with racing and appeals as a great value chance when he contests the Seppelt Grand Flaneur Handicap (2000m). The son of Pierro scored a tough win over 1600 metres at Bendigo two starts back before an honest 2nd placing behind subsequent Sandown winner BRILLIANT CONCEPT over 1600 metres at Ballarat on May 20. After three runs back from a spell, he is ready to step up in distance, should race handy in this field, in-form rider Jye McNeil retains the ride and it all points to PERSAN giving a great sight at each way odds. RACE 7 NO.11 AUSSIE NUGGET AUSSIE NUGGET can makes amends from a desperately unlucky run last start when he tackles the Henry Byron Moore Handicap (1800m). The Anthony Freedman trained gelding ran into continual dead ends when finishing 6th behind SAVAHEAT over 1800 metres at Flemington on May 23. He still finished less than three lengths from the winner and lost momentum several times in testing ground. He has a wider draw this time which should suit his racing style and AUSSIE NUGGET can record his fifth win from 15 starts. Market Market
