Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on August 13, 2021August 13, 2021 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 1 NO.3 INFLUENTIAL GIRL The Fillies and Mares Benchmark 84 Handicap (1700m) looks an even race with a host of chances, however INFLUENTIAL GIRL appeals as a good winning chance at each way odds. The Robbie Griffiths and Mathew de Kock trained mare had been struggled on soft ground at her first three runs this campaign, however she showed dramatic improvement when striking a good track to finish 3rd behind FALLS over 2000 metres at Caulfield on July 10. The daughter of Magnus has been given a five week freshen and drops back to mares grade with the benefit of Lachlan Neindorf’s 2kg claim. A few of her rivals may be suspect at the end of 1700 metres whereas INFLUENTIAL GIRL will be hitting the line strongly at generous odds. RACE 3 NO.8 DIAMONDS IN THE SKY DIAMONDS IN THE SKY will be fitter for one run back from a spell and should give her rivals something to chase when she contests the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1100m). The four year old showed good speed and gave a terrific sight when finishing a close-up 5th behind AWAPUNI PRINCESS over 1200 metres at Caulfield on July 24. She looks the clear leader in this race, gets the benefit of Will Price’s 1.5kg claim and has won over the Caulfield 1100 metres circuit in the past. She’s a speedy mare that looks one of the better bets of the day. RACE 4 NO.4 PAUL’S REGRET PAUL’S REGRET kicks off her spring campaign in the Mares Handicap (1100m) and it looks the ideal race for her to start her preparation on a winning note. The five year old contested the best mares race during the autumn with her best performance being a solid 2nd behind the multiple Group one winner PROBABEEL in the Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 6. She has trialled nicely in recent weeks, seems drawn for a good run and in-form rider Damien Thornton takes the mount; great winning chance at backable odds. Market Market
