Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on July 9, 2021 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 1 NO.2 ZAPATEO ZAPATEO created a big impression winning on debut at Geelong recently and looks the one to beat again when she runs in the 2YO Fillies Handicap (1100m). The daughter of Brazen Beau settled well back from a wide draw at her only run, however she has shown speed in trials so she should be able to take advantage of an inner barrier draw. Champion rider Damien Oliver retains the ride and ZAPATEO appeals as one of the good bets on the Caulfield program. RACE 3 NO.9 ZORRO’S DREAM ZORRO’S DREAM is long overdue for a city win and gets another great opportunity when he contests the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1100m). The four year old has been runner up at his past three outings including a brave second behind EXPRESS PASS over 1000 metres at Flemington on June 19. The extra 100 metres of this race is in his favour and gets the benefit of Will Price’s 1.5kg claim. He never runs a bad race and ZORRO’S DREAM looks poised to record his 4th career win. RACE 9 NO.13 GRINZINGER ALLEE GRINZINGER ALLEE makes his much anticipated return to racing when he runs in the Benchmark 84 Handicap (1400m) and has trialled well in preparations for this run. The four year old only had a light summer campaign of two runs which included a first-up 2nd over 1400 metres at Caulfield on January 2 before a tough win over 1500 metres at Sandown Hillside on January 23. Jamie Kah is about to become Melbourne’s champion rider for the season and should send Caulfield punters home on a winning note aboard GRINZINGER ALLEE. Market Market
