Darren Clayton’s Albion Park Preview Posted on February 18, 2022February 18, 2022 | Posted by Darren Clayton RACE 1 TEDDY FEELS GOOD (5) looks ready to strike after three runs back from a spell. Game in defeat two back when parked, he was nabbed up the passing lane in front last start. ZHUKOV LEIS (9) is a midweek winner at his most recent appearance when leading throughout in a new career benchmark. GLENLEDI BOY (2) is not quick off the arm but from this gate can be kicking up to gain position and after placing his past two has claims. THE IRISH EAGLE (4) was big in front at Redcliffe two starts back in smart time but didn’t bring that to the big deck last start. SELECTIONS: 5-9-2-4 SUGGESTED BET: TEDDY FEELS GOOD (5) to win RACE 2 HERBS HERO (9) lost all his momentum last start when hemmed away against the poles, which followed a strong close-out behind Hemsworth. Tempo and map look to be in his favour. OUR BONDI BEACH (1) has a mix of good management and good fortune, landing barrier 1 here at The Creek for the 33rd time. Of the 32 times he has started from the ace, he has been top-three in 22 of them. THE ANNOUNCER (10) sat parked last week and fought hard for 2nd behind Fond Memories but gate 10 hurts. KINGOFTHESTARS (2) has certainly shown more signs of life at his past few after an extended flat spot, with the gate helping his cause. SELECTIONS: 9-1-10-2 SUGGESTED BET: HERBS HERO (9) to win RACE 3 THE ROCKNROLL KING (1) ran superior closing splits to his rivals last week after retreating from gate 7, never finding open road and finishing unplaced. He snares the options which are a big advantage to hold. SOHO SINATRA (12) has won his past three in succession as he continues a renaissance under Donny Smith. Having the temerity to fight back for a determined win last week, he will need to be big again from this alley. IT AINT THE MONEY (2) lifted to claim the win two starts back and was fighting when 4m from Pacific Drums last start. He will be duking it out. PACIFIC DRUMS (4) has claimed three wins in his past four- all coming from the second line when attacking late. Settling closer, he cannot be overlooked. SELECTIONS: 1-12-2-4 SUGGESTED BET: THE ROCKNROLL KING (1) to win RACE 4 SO BOBS YOUR UNCLE (5) has been a model of consistency and was rewarded with a mid-week win Tuesday from the trail. With speed underneath, positioning cheaply will be key. YEP GOT CHOOKS (3) is a go forward type that should take plenty of benefit from last week when midfield to Soho Sinatra where he was fresh up since December. OMINOUS WARNING (1) has not won since 2018, but to be fair has only had four runs in that period. The gate is a big advantage here third-up after tough draws at his past two. OBI ONE (8) was not suited when required to work last start and should enjoy the economical trip. SELECTIONS: 5-3-1-8 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 1-5-8 / 1-3-5-8 / 1-3-4-5-8 RACE 5 ROCK WITH SAM (4) had been sharp in three trials before resuming with a sound effort last week in FFA grade. This is a second-tier open, and he gets his chance to overturn a win drought. SECRETAGENT TYCOON (1) has the perfect gate for this assignment first up. Finishing off in nice order in a preparatory trial, he may just need the hit out. SQUIRE (3) has early hustle and can be taking an early shot from this gate and has a race fitness edge on the main players. OUR MAJOR DAY (2) will be fresh after his last appearance in early January and can tuck in to fill the minors. SELECTIONS: 4-1-3-2 SUGGESTED BET: ROCK WITH SAM (4) to win RACE 6 BETTOR ROMANCE (9) will be relying on tempo which looks likely to eventuate with several front-line runners possessing early speed. Placed her past two, she might just be the knockout in a tricky affair. SHEZ GOT BLING (3) has speed when they choose to use it, and this might be the race and then taking cover would put her in calculations. JEWEL OF PEAK (8) was collared on the wire here on Tuesday after tippy toeing the last 50m. An economical trip presents for this. BETTOR MEMORIES (1) should enjoy the cosy trip in behind the speed. SELECTIONS: 9-3-8-1 SUGGESTED BET: BETTOR ROMANCE (9) to win RACE 7 CHASING THE WIND (1) finished midfield last start from gate 10 behind the dictating Fond Memories. This is an easier contest, and the improved gate is a huge help. LETTERKENNY BOY (7) was strong to the line last start and is at his best when swooping late, the small field will help that pattern. OUR UNCLE JIM (3) will tighten from a run here on Tuesday when fresh and finishing midfield and will likely throw some early heat. CHEESANDKISSES (5) has been sectionally sound of late and will be rattling home.SELECTIONS: 1-7-3-5 SUGGESTED BET: CHASING THE WIND (1) to win RACE 8 MOLLIESMARYELLE (9) has been forced to line up from wide gates owing to the ODM embargo but sectionally has been superb. Attacking the line impressively last week, there looks a front-line tempo to aid her chances. HEAVENLY WISDOM (4) claimed a smart win from the front on Tuesday. The front looks hers again early. HAMMERTIME HARLEY (7) was angled back to the passing lane when making a closing play last week when a head from Blue Ivy but gate 7 stings. SHEZ ALL STYLE (6) was not too far from them on Tuesday but will need to position cheaply from the tough gate. SELECTIONS: 9-4-7-6 SUGGESTED BET: MOLLIESMARYELLE (9) to win RACE 9 WILL THE WIZARD (2) was quiet off the arm and with the field soon in single file was three back against the poles last week. Never getting a shot at them, he has a great record out in front and looks set to capitalise. L L COOL J (7) was disappointing on face value after walking them through the early stages last week before being gunned down. The wide gate makes it a tough ask. IDEAL WORLD (4) is going super but just not getting any reward and will be charging home again. MISTERFREEZE (6) delivered the upset last week with the passing lane defeat of L L Cool J but is given no favours out in 6. SELECTIONS: 2-7-4-6 SUGGESTED BET: WILL THE WIZARD (2) to win RACE 10 BLISSFULL LILLY (6) has been running some smart closing splits in recent outings and finds a race here where tempo looks right for her to be sweeping home in the stretch. HELLO ITS ME (8) should appreciate tackling her own sex. If factors are in her favour and she can hit the passing lane with momentum, she can take this wide-open contest. AMERICAN FLYER (1) was gone a long way from home last week after leading. With the map again in her favour, she gets a chance to atone. BLUE IVY (4) was able to hold on after leading them up last week and claim a mare’s qualifier and looks to settle handy again. SELECTIONS: 6-8-1-4 SUGGESTED BET: BLISSFULL LILLY (6) to win RACE 11 DOUG (8) was back in the pack last start and peeled off a slick last 800 in chase of the leader and winner Sir Fahrenheit. If he trots cleanly, he can take it. GARLAND GREENE (7) pressed ahead to sit parked last week and fought hard for 2nd. With a 10m advantage over Doug, he looms large. VAN SANK (1) is a risk as he has thrown a few away, but at his best he can take this off the front tape. MELPARK MAGIC (3) goes in search of a hat-trick, backing up from a tidy win on Tuesday from 50m but this is tougher. SELECTIONS: 8-7-1-3 SUGGESTED BET: DOUG (8) to win Market Market
