Darren Clayton’s Albion Park Preview Posted on January 28, 2022January 28, 2022 | Posted by Darren Clayton RACE 1 MOHS EM DOWN (4) is a speedster out of the machine who can look to find the front. He rises in trip from a last start win at the mile to the 2138m but with a steadier time early can fight them off again. MAJOR GENERALJUJON (2) is pushing closer to breaking a win drought and has been closing his races nicely when saved. SAM IS PERFECTION (10) has the tough gate but is better suited back in veteran’s company after tackling the FFA last time. PACIFIC DRUMS (7) has claimed victory at his past two, and although he faces a tough ask from this alley, both wins came from the second line. SELECTIONS: 4-2-10-7 SUGGESTED BET: MOHS EM DOWN (4) to win RACE 2 MAYWYNS COURAGE (4) excels at the mile with all 15 of his career wins coming at this track and trip. Too slick out in front in midweek company two starts back, he was strong late behind Deus Ex last time. ROLL WOTH ROCKY (1) steps up in grade but is hard not to entertain from the good gate after his easy last start win which made it 3 in his past 4 starts. CHEESANDKISSES (8) looks set to enjoy an economical trip and from either leader’s back or three-pegs will be slicing through late. FOND MEMORIES (9) will tighten from last time when returning from a freshen with a 2nd placing. SELECTIONS: 4-1-8-9 SUGGESTED BET: MAYWYNS COURAGE (4) to win RACE 3 SAUCY DREAMS (2) is at her best when able to roll along in front with her recent outings just not going to plan. Back to the mile for this battle with the tight alley, her ideal conditions look set to prevail. OUR ROAD TO MECCA (6) was trying to fight them off last start when drifting up the track allowing plenty of room for Ohoka Chopper to fly through and score. The gate stings. BITCOIN (8) was making nice metres in the closing stages here on Tuesday and draws for a cosy trip. BLISSFULL LILLY (1) showed improvement last start and will secure a similar soft trip in this. SELECTIONS: 2-6-8-1 SUGGESTED BET: SAUCY DREAMS (2) to win RACE 4 GOVERNOR JUJON (2) drops back from last week’s FFA where he went under a whisker behind L L Cool J after darting back to the inside. With the speed to force the issue early, he should take his earnings beyond $400,000 with a victory. DEUS EX (9) found the front early last time before holding the chasers at bay with a 54.5 last 800m split. He will need to chase this time. OHOKA CHOPPER (1) had plenty of space to charge along the inside last start to make it successive wins and maps for the cosy ride once more. JONAH JONES (8) steps up here but the map is in his favour to slice through with the short-cuts. SELECTIONS: 2-9-1-8 SUGGESTED BET: GOVERNOR JUJON (2) to win, Trifecta 2 / 1-8-9 RACE 5 SUNNY RICE (4) was a gritty winner here 3 starts back in a mare’s event, followed that with a 2nd to the in-form Tracer Bullet and then struck trouble last start. This is open but she is going well enough. GET READY TO ROCK (6) could not finish it off last start and although again facing a tricky gate, her record at The Creek is handy at 10: 1-4-1. SHEZ GOT BLING (2) lines up for her 5th run in 14 days, but has shown she enjoys the workload, finishing 2nd at her past two starts, beaten a neck and 2m in each. GOALKICKER (8) tried to fight them off last time but was collared late and this could be a tough gate. SELECTIONS: 4-6-2-8 SUGGESTED BET: SUNNY RICE (4) to win RACE 6 MANILA PLAYBOY (4) was ruthless last start when sitting parked and putting away Big Wheels in a 53.9 last 800m. That was two weeks prior to Christmas but the cobwebs have been blown clear with two impressive trials. WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (2) returns from a 3-start Tamworth mission where he claimed victory in the most recent attempt. Finding the poles would be a big plus. SO BOBS YOUR UNCLE (6) has been a model of consistency with placings in 5 of his past 6, the latest when just a head from the winner. ROCK BOTTOM (8) has been bereft of luck at his past two starts and will need a rub of the green to find some space. SELECTIONS: 4-2-6-8 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 4 / 1-2-6-8 RACE 7 SWEET JEMMA (10) has no favours from this alley and may be winless in 8 attempts here at The Creek, yet she may just have found breakthrough conditions. HEAVENLY WISDOM (4) was only 1m from the winner here on Tuesday which followed a 3rd in this grade last Saturday. NINA SIMONE (3) could not get going last start from the 2nd line and the return to the front will be a plus. JEWEL OF PEAK (5) could not cope when asked to graft it out in the breeze last start. Finding the pegs can see a sharper return. SELECTIONS: 10-4-3-5 SUGGESTED BET: SWEET JEMMA (10) to win RACE 8 WILL THE WIZARD (2) resumes from a freshen after a pre-Christmas campaign where nothing was in his favour. Fresh to kick off his 5YO term, his record leading at the mile is super at 10: 7-1-1. This week’s instalment of #LeaderPeter doing his thing. L L COOL J (6) completed a threepeat of victories last week when defying the late surge of Governor Jujon. The wide gate dampens his hopes of the quartet. SPEECH IS SILVER (4) was strong in the latter stages after using some early petrol last start. Will be trying to rally late. LETS KATCHMEIFUCAN (1) can take the easy trip and stalk the speed. SELECTIONS: 2-6-4-1 SUGGESTED BET: WILL THE WIZARD (2) to win RACE 9 GARLAND GREENE (6) has started the new year in nice fashion with a close 2nd followed by a dominant win last week from the 20m handicap. A potentially tricky gate in a race where the main players all have limited wins at the distance. SIR FAHRENHEIT (7) is slammed with the outside front line and has just 4 starts at this trip, which includes a win in the G2 Trotters Sprint here five starts back. DOUG (8) will have the second line options with no other runner off the back line and although beaten last time, had won his previous 4. VAN SANK (3) is a five-time winner from the mobile but has not hit the board in 3 sprint outings. The gate advantage is a plus. SELECTIONS: 6-7-8-3 SUGGESTED BET: GARLAND GREENE (6) to win RACE 10 BANGKOK DEEJAY (8) will be giving away ground to his main dangers from the 2nd line, but he might just be the most progressive in this field as he resumes from a freshen off the back of two slick trials. AWAYWEGO (1) has defeated the older horses at his past two starts, his last run against his own age when overpowered by Leap To Fame. I AM SPARTA (2) will strip fitter following his first up run when fading after working hard when parked. BEACH MAGIC (3) is another that will be tightened after one run back from a break and can settle handy. SELECTIONS: 8-1-2-3 SUGGESTED BET: BANGKOK DEEJAY (8) to win Market Market
