Chris Nelson’s Saturday Rosehill Preview Posted on November 6, 2025November 6, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson Race 1 Saturday racing in Sydney at Rosehill, it’s been a while! No problems with track or weather. We kick things off with a 1200m Highway where I’m leaning to the in-form (7) FAVOUR THE BOLD. Looking at his two wins this prep both at Scone he looks a very raw type who travels strongly in the run, suggest he has a lot to learn as well as plenty of upside which is positive. (5) SOCIAL CIRCLE is another lightly raced runner, last couple have been in town when not far away, beat all bar the since won again Petticoat two back, that’s a solid form line. (3) LUANAITE resumes, placed at this level two back. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet: FAVOUR THE BOLD & SOCIAL CIRCLE TO WIN. RACE 2 Wind the clock back to Randwick 2 weeks ago where Oakfield Jupiter was able to defeat Motoscafo by just under a length. Both efforts were good one with each first up suggesting there’s plenty of improvement to come from the pair. There’s a weight swing to (5) MOTOSCAFO of 1.5kg however I’m not convinced that will turn the tables & therefore will stick with (6) OAKFIELD JUPITER. The resuming (1) ROLLING MAGIC won fresh last prep, next best. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 1 – 19 Suggested Bet: OAKFIELD JUPITER & MOTOSCAFO TO WIN RACE 3 He’s very well named & shows plenty of promise (2) THEBUDGIESMUGLA. Formerly trained in New Zealand he’s had the two local starts going down by less than a length at Hawkesbury with plenty of weight before romping away stepping up to 2400m last start here in a midweeker. With upside to come he can win again. (3) CAPTAIN MAVERICK doesn’t win too often; his record certainly backs that up, he does run plenty of placings though, must include. Stable mate (9) STING IN THE TAIL gets back, not sure the rails gate is ideal? Numbers: 2 – 3 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet: THEBUDGIESMUGLA TO WIN. RACE 4 Interesting race & in my opinion most interest centres around the ex-WA colt (3) JUST TOO FLY who is now in the all-conquering Chris Waller stable. Right up there with the best youngsters in the state as a 2yo he’s had a couple of trials not being asked to do anything of note, market moves all important re his chances. (1) MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE backs up from last Saturday when a dominant winner at Randwick, back in trip, up in weight. (5) SHADY THINKER is the other interesting runner having done all his racing in South Australia, trained out of Gawler he travels a fair way from home, not sure if there’s a reason behind that? Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet: Monitor market leads (4) JUST TOO FLY. RACE 5 Have to stick with last start Doomben placegetter (5) BRAVE CALL who just got going too late on that occasion however when he did, he really did close in strongly. Chances are he may be looking for further now however 3 weeks between runs should keep him sharp enough staying at the 1800m range this afternoon. Not sure he’s got the early speed to make any use of the gate however Tommy Berry will no doubt have him closer if able to. Clear danger is the very consistent (2) HURSTVILLE ZAGREB who is yet to miss a placing within his 7 starts & that includes 3 wins, he’ll look to push on from his wide gate & find a prominent spot early on. (1) BROSNAN in the place mix only, he struggles to win. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet: BRAVE CALL EACH-WAY. RACE 6 The one-million-dollar Golden Gift for the 2yo’s sees more unraced than raced entrants which I suppose isn’t surprising this early in the season. Debutante (5) ARTEMEX really impressed winning his only trial running on from the back. Steadily angled across heels & coming thru between runners late he finished full of running & all under his own steam, once of the more impressive trial wins I’ve seen for a while. (1) REVENGEANCE hit the line well in the Breeders Plate which rated highly, strong claims here looms as the logical danger. (8) THE NEXT EPISODE cost plenty (2.8 million) & I did like his trial win also, he’s a stablemate to the top tip. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet: ARTEMEX TO WIN. RACE 7 Going wide here looking for some market support around (4) POUNCE who is an ex-American mare with an unbeaten first up record at home. She’s taken my eye late in her two trials & the 1400m fresh here looks suitable. Betting will tell the tale, should she drift noticeably we’ll save her for another day however hopefully that’s not the case. (2) MISS ROUMBINI had excuses last start & was placed in Group 1 company the run prior, very smart. (3) MIRAVAL ROSE draws well & will race on speed, (9) BAUHINIA the knockout chance, last couple have been better than they may appear on paper. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet: POUNCE EACH-WAY (looking for market support). RACE 8 Can’t believe I’m going this way however (7) MILITARIZE who yes, doesn’t win too often drops plenty in grade & weight. He’s been chasing the likes of Fangirl & Lindermann home of late & even accounting for the wide gate is worth a small each-way investment. (1) TRANSATLANTIC is flying this prep winning the Group 1 Toorak two back before strong on pace winning the Prelude for this race at Randwick, wide gate has to be of some concern however should things pan out he’s a huge chance. (13) VIVY AIR is on the back up from the Big Dance on Tuesday when running home well. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 13 – 3 Suggested Bet: MILITARIZE EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 9 Going to lean to (6) SPIRIT OF WEALTH who returned to her winning ways at Hawkesbury last start leading the small field going ‘barrier to box’. She can be a little hit or miss however down in the weights zooming along in front could take some running down. (11) TAXATION is the runner with upside, unbeaten & a low weight suggests she could well make it 3 from 3. (2) WEEPING WOMAN maps well. Numbers: 6 – 11 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 10 Wouldn’t be surprised to see an upset in this final race where I’m going to suggest something on (13) STARMAN each-way. Not race for a month he has had a trial between this & his latest run when placing at Warwick Farm, he’s capable of running well here from the favourable draw. No knock on the undefeated (9) FROSTY GIRL however this is definitely a tougher task. (3) FORMAL DISPLAY a chance racing up on speed. Numbers: 13 – 9 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet: STARMAN EACH-WAY (small bet). Market Market
