Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on February 26, 2026February 26, 2026 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 We race at Eagle Farm on Saturday. Rain is forecast, could be hit or miss however on Thursday the rating was a Good (4). We open the day with a Class 3 over the 1000m scamper, I’ll lean to (3) SEYMOUR STARS however am well aware at this stage she’s accepted for not only here however also in Sydney at Randwick & the Gold Coast. Where will she end up? A winner at all 3 starts to date she has to raise the bar here however with a recent dominant trial win under her belt she can go very close to keeping that perfect record intact. (3) CABALETTO is only raced & very consistent, resumes & has also impressed at the trials. (5) HEY DAISY has come back in good form this prep, strong last start winner having raced wide. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 2 This week’s distance race is a complete raffle. Last Saturday’s Doomben winner (1) AKKADIAN EMPEROR goes up favourite & I’d suggest at well unders considering the 4kg weight rise to 61kg. (7) LENAPE VIBE comes out of the same race & also rises in weight which isn’t ideal however his effort was sound & I just get the feeling he’s ready to do something. Stablemate (8) LOVEY DOVEY is racing in great form, only lightly raced he rises in grade for this however I wouldn’t underestimate. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 3 First of our 2yo Jewel Preludes is for the colts & geldings & should the same (1) AREPRICE turn up as the one who bolted in at Doomben on debut it’s hard to see him being beaten. Racing up on speed he absorbed plenty of pressure before charging away in the straight to score by over 5 lengths. Leading trainer Tony Gollan sends around a couple of debutantes in (3) BOOMTOWNS & (4) FINAL CRUSADE, the former has trialled the better of the pair. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet: AREPRICE TO WIN/monitor market leads nos.3 & 4. RACE 4 Looking forward to this Jewel Prelude for the fillies as (9) NIGHT MARKET impressed greatly at the trials & makes her debut this afternoon. She went around in the same set of heats as her dominant debut winning stable mate Pembrey who is a short-priced favourite in today’s Sweet Embrace at Randwick. (9) NIGHT MARKET bolted in under no urgings & ran quicker time! (2) CHERRY BOMBSHELL has also accepted for that same race today at Randwick & as I type is still down to run in both, dominant winner here last start after being luckless on debut. (3) ELUSIVE CAPITAL in the mix, (1) ESPERANZE is one from one, doubt she beat much at that debut win though. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet: Follow any market support for NIGHT MARKET. RACE 5 Leaning to the very consistent (5) REZONE however I’m wary of a couple of others. Ex-Victoria he won his first 3 starts up here before beating all bar the flying Diamond Epic here a fortnight back. He’ll land in a favourable spot from the jump & should get every possible chance. (9) ROCK HARD LOVE closed off strongly against the tempo two back, bit flatter last week at Doomben however always willing to forgive one average run & he should be good odds. (3) BRINDIVAN put paid to plenty of multi’s last start when going down as an odds-on favourite, freshened up for this however may be chasing further? Numbers: 5 – 9 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 6 With Just Flying scratched (1) VICTORIA ROAD should lead comfortably & could take some running down. (6) NAILS MURPHY draws out however is versatile, with a likely lack of speed the plan may be to push forward, I’ll lean his way. Certainly including (1) VICTORIA ROAD as his last start was an indication he might be getting back to his better form, he raced on speed & gave plenty right to the line. (7) NOBLE CONQUEROR loves this track; he’s won 3 of his past 4 & they’ve all been here. (9) DEMON DARB can improve should the rain come. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet: NAILS MURPHY TO WIN/Saver VICTORIA ROAD. RACE 7 (11) SAVAGERY VIBE beat home (12) CHEVAL CHIC here last start courtesy of a Ryan Maloney special. Back last on the home turn he picked his way through the field finishing strongly right the way to the line comfortably holding his rivals at bay. He can win again here however should the track reach the wet range I’d be having something on (12) CHEVAL CHIC who also finished off well & is clearly better placed on wet ground than dry, she’s yet to win on a good track. (13) BREAK FREE in the mix also, good run last start squeezing through along the fence. Numbers: 11 – 12 – 13 – 14 Suggested Bet: SAVAGERY VIBE TO WIN/Saver CHEVAL CHIC if wet. RACE 8 The 3yo Jewel looks a fairly open race with a stack of early speed engaged. I’ve settled on the favourite (1) EARN TO BURN however will be looking for odds better than what’s around in the early markets. He resumed with a dominant Sunshine Coast win & brought that form to town scoring here at his latest run at the end of last month, this is definitely tougher & he will have 60kg to lump which is 2kg more than last start. (3) ISTI STAR raced very well in strong 2yo events last season, 2nd in Listed grade prior to the break will be primed for a first up tilt. (8) STIKTODASCRYPT looks overs in early markets, consecutive placings behind Alpha Sofie here last winter is a good form line for this. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet: EARN TO BURN ($3 or better). RACE 9 Sticking solid with (5) HELL who was given no chance at Doomben last start when engaged in a mad speed duel with He’s Heaven to the turn. Both were shot ducks into the straight & this one did a good job to even hold down a placing. The only on paced opposition I can see in this race is Vodka Martini however he’s not going to match HELL for early speed. (1) HATCHET was the beneficiary of that crazy pace last start running right over the top late, doesn’t appear as well placed here however racing too well to be overlooked. (4) VODKA MARTINI & (3) BATTLEFIELD in the place mix. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet: HELL TO WIN. RACE 10 I’m going wide in this closing race suggesting (12) EARL OF BANTRY could be worth an each-way bet on a dry track. Good fresh he’s had no luck at two runs since & his latest was a complete train wreck in the straight, could easily bob up here at odds. The very frustrating (5) JOHN RAMBO did a good job when stepped up to the mile last start, he didn’t quite win however beat all bar the winner with a decent gap back to third, he’s close however we’ve heard that before with him! (3) SLIPPIN’ JIMMY & (2) WEGALL TIGER will race on speed & are right in amongst the chances. Numbers: 12 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet: EARL OF BANTRY EACH-WAY if dry (small bet). Market Market
