Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on October 16, 2025October 16, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing in Brisbane on Saturday once again comes from Eagle Farm. Track played firm last week & with little or no rain since I’d suggest similar is likely however never a given. The meeting kicks off with a restricted distance affair where there’s no obvious leader whatsoever, in fact the closest I’ve got to a leader, is a midfielder, anything is possible, tread warily. (6) CONNECTICUT likely finishes closer to So You Are with clearer running earlier last start & we’ve seen So You Are come out & do everything bar win last week’s Queensland Cup. (1) KIRKEBY was ok in the same race while (2) JUSTICE SERVED has been racing very consistently out of town. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet: Wide exotics. RACE 2 Tempo likely soft here however basically all runners go to this trip for the first time suggesting we may see more than the obvious 7 & 8 going forward? I highly doubt (2) DUSHENKA will take up a forward role however the rise in distance is ideal for her. Strong to the line both runs this prep she likely finishes closer last time with a clearer run all the way down the straight. (3) LONESOME SOUL was trapped deep last start in the same race, prior runs all good including a win in a race which didn’t suit, don’t see 1810m being any issue for her. Confident the winner comes from that pair. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet: DUSHENKA TO WIN. RACE 3 (9) BRAVE CALL is an import who won & placed at his first two Australian starts before being sent for a break. He resumed at Doomben 2 weeks ago running home well over a mile in a race which didn’t suit tempo wise. He gets out over further today, strips fitter & if close enough is a big chance of running over the leaders late. (7) SUNLORD maps to lead & is racing in good form, the softer the lead the better his chances. (6) SECOND SUN scratched last week out of multiple venues when looking a winning chance in both, market? (4) MAZIS has ability, will give away a start though. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet: BRAVE CALL EACH-WAY. RACE 4 The in-form (3) PARTY FOR TWO will go around at cramped odds here. She’s racing in peak form at the moment leading throughout her past couple here & Doomben, she’s been back to the trials winning with ease & even with the big weight looks the one to beat. (2) MANHOOD resumes with a good fresh record & will park in a prominent spot from the get-go, won 3 of 7 fresh. (4) MAXIMUM OUTPUT beat a subsequent winner last start & is another who will race on speed. Of the closers 1 & 7 the better chances. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet: PART FOR TWO TO WIN ($2 or better). RACE 5 Find Your Own & Custo draw opposite ends of the barrier stalls here however they look the two to set the tempo in front, can’t see the former having too many issues crossing from the wide alley. Good race, could go a number of different ways however I’ll settle on (12) PETTICOAT who will be parked right behind those two leaders, her first up win at Randwick was good & she drops in weight for this, importantly she’s still on the fresh side with that run being a month ago. (16) SHE OURS likely gains a start, she’s a big hope having raced without any luck last prep, look for her to be steaming home late. BIG respect for (2) FIND YOUR OWN, map looks a lot more appealing than at acceptance time & note is a first up & track specialist. Numbers: 12 – 16 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 6 Like the look of the unraced (16) BARBERRY SPUR who ran into the promising & above average Deep Vegas on debut. With that form line looking a very strong one it was no surprise to see this one sent out at $1.24 next start & duly saluting by a wide margin. He’s accounted for the smart Grafterburners in a recent Doomben trial (both held) & should be ready to produce a big run fresh. (10) BREMEL maps ideally & is a big market watch having won 2 of her 3 starts & should have finished closer the other. I like the look of the Gollan trained (9) MOULIN MISS also, she didn’t fire in a couple of harder races last prep however has trialled very well for her return today. Numbers: 16 – 10 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet: Monitor market moves top 3 selections, all resume. RACE 7 Impossible race! Could have 10 tries & miss the winner… (14) LITTLE JEANIE didn’t have the clearest of runs home at Doomben chasing home first up winner (4) HEMAN who is also engaged here. She meets him 1.5kg better for the less than half-length defeat however her strike rate suggests she’s definitely an each-way proposition only. (12) IMPOSANT should be ready to go peaking fourth run back, a win does look near. 6 & 15 in the mix however so are many, many more! Numbers: 14 – 12 – 6 – 15 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 8 (2) EPIC PROPORTIONS needs a positive ride from the start here as he won’t want to be giving away too much ground on the leaders. I did like his first local run at Doomben when looking like running into the finish, a rival shifted out a little & as a result he did seem to lose momentum holding his ground to the line however dulling his finish burst. Fitter & rising to 1200m are both plusses. (3) OUR MAGNUS got the job done on his home track last start, he’s not the easiest to catch however place wise he’s very consistent. (12) AMORE VELOCE maps to lead from the good alley & can certainly figure fresh, has trialled encouragingly. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 12 – 10 Suggested Bet: EPIC PROPORTIONS TO WIN (small bet). RACE 9 (4) FREE CARRY maps to lead here & should get every possible chance. Problem is he’s had his chance to win at his past 3 starts yet been unable to do so & the latest was a shocker, I’m a fan & know he’s a lot better than that however I can’t put him on top today, yes, we all know what happens now! (2) KEITEL needs tempo in his races & so far this prep he’s had none yet has managed a win & two placings, I’ll go with him each-way here however would love to see more speed than is likely on paper. (6) EXCEED SPEED rolls forward, racing in good form gets his chance once again. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet: KEITEL EACH-WAY. Market Market
