Going with the in-form KALAPOUR who charged clear late to score here a fortnight back & will only relish the step up in distance. SERPENTINE is the best performed horse in the race overall, leads clearly on the map however even dropping plenty in grade is hard to get enthusiastic about. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet: KALAPOUR TO WIN RACE 2 This race is all about how quickly & economically TYPHOON TAAVI can get herself across to the fence or at worst outside the lead. Having her first start for Tony Gollan recently she was dominant running time winning by 5 lengths, Angela Jones was very kind to her late suggesting the time & margin could have been faster & further. MANHOOD will be looking to come across underneath her, he may do the right thing & drag her across with him? Numbers: 16 – 3 – 12 – 13 Suggested Bet: TYPHOON TAAVI TO WIN RACE 3 Similar to the previous race with TYPHOON TAAVI we have a widely drawn favourite with the best form in the race being KING KAPA. He resumes today having had the one prep for Tony Gollan winning all 4 starts & each one was with more ease than the previous, his recent trial win suggests he’s come back just as good, if not better. I’m sticking with him. There’s good speed on the map which will suit MISHANI SNIPER who is in top form, expect to see him motoring down the outside late as he did last start. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet: KING KAPA TO WIN RACE 4 With ARMED FORCES scratched to run at Rosehill instead I’m now with the smart filly PARTY FOR TWO who ran that cracking Blue Diamond Prelude placing before down the track in the big one. In a new stable she won a recent short 650m trial at Deagon which should have her ready to go here. SZABO is 2 from 2 with both wins being impressive albeit in easier grade, gut feel is she can measure up. CIFRADO looked good at Ipswich, not sure the drop back in trip is ideal though? Numbers: 4 – 7 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet: Box up 4 selections in exotics RACE 5 EKATERINA accounted for SPIRIT QUEEN when they last met which was at Doomben back on April 1. All credit to her as she had to give her rival a start & did a good job to run her down. The margin was around a half-length, from that encounter the weights favour SPRIT QUEEN by 1.5kg, she’s got 54 vs EKATERINA’s 59, I’m going with SPIRIT QUEEN to turn the tables. Don’t be the least surprised to see BILLIONAIR BABY improve plenty. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet: SPIRIT QUEEN TO WIN RACE 6 Difficult race this one. With little confidence I’ll lean to the 3yo YASUKE from the Waller yard. Looking at his races he doesn’t show any type of ‘turn of foot’ suggesting the stable are eyeing off a likely Derby start. With no weight he should be competitive here. BALTIC COAST motored home last start, suited by the step up in trip as is SABALENKA. Numbers: 18 – 9 – 16 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up first 3 selections in exotics RACE 7 ANTINO is a very promising horse from the leading Tony Gollan stable. He’s only suffered defeat once & his last two wins have been very good overcoming difficulties at the start. He’s Stradbroke bound & should be winning this. Right down the bottom THE DROVER was terrific last start sitting wide without cover, loomed to win in the straight however couldn’t get past the winner. PALLADAS closed well first up, 1400m suits. Numbers: 6 – 15 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet: ANTINO TO WIN RACE 8 Very even race this, could make a case for almost every runner, luck in running will be all important. I’m interested to see what the market does with the import A CASE OF YOU who is a dual Group 1 winner overseas. His only local outing was at Moonee Valley in the Group 1 Manikato when closing very well from an unwinnable position. PRIVATE EYE is the class runner, PAULELE maps well, ROTHFIRE fitter. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet: A CASE OF YOU (each-way small) RACE 9 Looking forward to the Guineas where KOVALICA will be well supported. He’s highly fancied to win the Derby in a month or so & looked right on track motoring home late first up over 1400m at Randwick during The Championships. 1600m on a track he’s already won on is made to order. THE FORTUNE TELLER scored well on wet ground last start, he’ll be right there should KOVALICA slip up. THE VOWELS has to take it up a notch however he was terrific here last start sitting wide no cover throughout. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet: KOVALICA TO WIN Market Market
