Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on September 14, 2023September 14, 2023 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 TENZING looks well placed to win here third up from a break. Both runs this prep have been over the shorter trips with the latest a solid performance in what was a sprint home suiting the on-paced runners where he held his ground well. The rise to 1600m is ideal & the race has fallen away with scratchings. PLANNED ENCOUNTER should have definitely finished closer last start if not for running into trouble late, tougher task however looks up to it. Respect LOLLY YEATS on her Sydney form. Numbers: 7 – 15 – 9 – 12 Suggested Bet: TENZING TO WIN RACE 2 CHERNAK is flying winning his past couple & what I like about him is the strength he shows in the run to the line. There’s a few in this race who may struggle out to the longer trip, that won’t be the case with this one who should win again. OSTERMEIER flew home last start, he can do that & let you down next time around, on his best form he’s at least a place chance though. GALIFIANAKIS continues to race well, query at 2400m+ though. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet: CHERNAK TO WIN RACE 3 Suggest I’ll be on my own here with IRON GRACE the top tip as she just hasn’t been kind to punters one bit. She races without any luck & is often the hard luck story in her races, that can’t last forever & she strikes only an average field here. With no weight & fitter for the run last week I’m expecting a decent showing. POETIC DRAMA loves this track & trip, not the best draw unfortunately though. Include SMOKIN TOFF who did win impressively first run in the state when totally friendless in the market. Numbers: 13 – 9 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet: IRON GRACE EACH-WAY RACE 4 Going to be guided by the market here as I’m keen to play MAURICE’S MEDAD however should he go for a drift I’ll wait for another day. He’s now in a betting stable & his first up record is a lot better than it reads on paper, liked his recent trial & I’d be surprised if he didn’t run well. NAVAL TRADER is only lightly raced with upside, likely starts favourite, should land a good run on speed. DARK HARMONY has been collared his past couple may appreciate the drop back to 1400m. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet: MAURICE’S MEDAD (if firm in the market) RACE 5 FIFTH POSITION is a new addition to the Tony Gollan stable having previously been trained in Victoria. He’s had the one run for the new yard running 4th (of 5) at Doomben when not having much room in the straight. I’m not sure how much he had to offer however I’ll take the punt there was something in the tank. HOLSTEIN is flying, backed up the dominant Sydney victory with a narrow Sunshine Coast win. Convinced there’s a win coming up for WAIRERE FALLS, it’s well overdue though. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet: FIFTH POSITION EACH-WAY (small bet) RACE 6 Very, very difficult race. I’ve landed on BARISTASITA who drops in weight & in my opinion class, she can tend to mix her form however if her mind is on the task at hand today, she’ll figure in the finish. Absolutely no idea what happened to LE MELODY last week, probably her worst career run, can’t sack her on that. POCKET FULL can be included however will need luck from the draw. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 6 – 13 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics RACE 7 INSTAGOOD has only had the two starts for a fast-closing Beaudesert win before being held up here two weeks ago running home late when clear into 3rd spot. Arguably she could have won that race with even luck & looks overs in a similar type race where they’ll go hard in front, she’ll be the one with the last shot at them. SHOW ME MERCY is unbeaten, no knock on the wins as they have been impressive, just has to take it up a level or two today. MISS COOTA disappointed last start, I’ll pass on her this time around as her first up win was only marginal & perhaps lucky? Numbers: 11 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet: INSTAGOOD EACH-WAY RACE 8 HARD TO SAY is racing in terrific form this prep winning both starts. The way this race maps he’s the one who is likely to score the gun run & we know he can be very strong late. OSAMU joins Tony Gollan, holds a good fresh record & trialled well, the claim for an in-form Cejay Graham a big help. HOLD ON HONEY needs to improve & can do so from the inside alley. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet: HARD TO SAY TO WIN RACE 9 It’s STAR OF CHAOS or VIMINELE in the final race for me, best of luck to the rest! I find them impossible to split suggesting if we can make a profit on the race backing both then that’s the way to go. The former is flying & should handle the additional trip, the latter is lightly raced with a good record & plenty of upside, they might settle one/two & stay that way. Numbers: 11 – 9 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet: STAR OF CHAOS/VIMINELE TO WIN Market Market
