Caulfield 9 January- Thoroughbreds Preview Posted on January 8, 2016January 8, 2016 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 6 NO.4 MAJESTICLASS Lightly raced filly MAJESTIC LASS looks a strong winning chance when she contests the Timothy Rourke Handicap (1400m). The Peter Moody trained filly resumed from a spell with a solid win over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley on December 18 before an even run when finishing 5th behind MAGNA ROSSA over 1200 metres at Flemington on January 1. She will relish a step up in distance and looks well drawn in barrier four with Ben Melham in the saddle. In an even race, MAJESTIC LASS should prove hard to beat. RACE 8 NO. 7 DUKE OF BRUNSWICK DUKE OF BRUNSWICK appeals as the best bet of the day when he runs in the Billie Swan Handicap (1200m). The four year old was dominant winning first-up over 1200 metres at Pakenham on November 29 before a close second behind his stablemate VOLCANIC ASH over 1400 metres at Caulfield on December 26. Whilst the son of Magnus has competitive form up to 1600 metres, his dominant form is over 1200 metres so dropping back in distance looks ideal. He drops 2.5kg on his last run and should enjoy a great run just behind the pace from barrier three; sure to run well again. RACE 9 NO.7 SADAQA SADAQA has been racing in terrific form of late and looks the value runner of the day when he contests the Swettenham Stud Championship Heat 8 (1600m). The six year old has been placed at his past two starts, firstly finishing 2nd behind TASHBEEH over 1600 metres at Flemington on December 12 before another honest run when finishing 3rd behind SIEGESTOR over 1600 metres at Moonee Valley on January 2. Promising apprentice Ben Thompson takes the ride and SADAQA drops 8kg on his run last week. He has the tactical speed to make his own luck and represents a good each way gamble. Bet Now
