Deane’s Saturday Caulfield Best Bets Posted on January 25, 2018 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 5 NO. 5 NOTIO Consistent performer NOTIO should be fitter for one run back from a spell and looks a strong winning chance when he contests the Benchmark 70 Handicap (1400m). The Team Hawkes trained gelding raced in the worst part of the track but battled on bravely to finish 3rd behind SOHOOL over 1400 metres at Sandown on January 10. SOHOOL enhanced that form with a win at Flemington last Saturday and NOTIO looks to have found the ideal race to record his third career victory. RACE 6 NO. 5 JESTER HALO JESTER HALO has been a model of consistency this campaign and appears ideally suited to record her first city win when she runs in the Benchmark 84 Plate (1400m). The five year old has a fine winning strike rate of five wins from 12 starts and comes off consecutive second placings from wide draws at Flemington in recent weeks. She has finally drawn a good barrier which should allow her rider Christine Puls to give JESTER HALO the run of the race and she appeals as one of the better bets of the day. SuperPick - RACE 6 NO. 5 JESTER HALO - Win Boost RACE 8 NO. 2 TSHAHITSI Tasmanian visitor TSHAHITSI has created a fine impression with recent visits on the mainland and looks the testing material in this year’s running of the John Dillon Stakes (1400m). The son of Clangalang cut a swathe through the Melbourne winter last year winning three races culminating in success in the Winter Championship Final (1600m) at Flemington in July. He returned to the track with a solid 4th behind LORD OF THE SKY in the Standish Handicap and should be fitter for that run. He is a winner of 7 of his 11 runs over 1400 metres and looks well placed to improve on that record. Bet Now
