Big Bash – Sydney Sixers v Brisbane Heat Preview Posted on January 18, 2018 | Posted by David Shortte Tonight the Sydney Sixers play host to the Brisbane Heat at the SCG. The Sydney Sixers cannot qualify for the finals sitting in 7th position with 2 wins and 6 losses while the Heat are in dire need of a win to qualify for the finals, sitting in 5th spot with 4 wins and 4 losses. The Sydney Sixers have been largely disappointing throughout the course of the tournament and lost their first 6 matches in a row however they have been good in their last two matches defeating the Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars. While neither of those two teams are massive scalps the return of Nathan Lyon as well as the inclusions of Joe Denly and Carlos Brathwaite has seen them look a lot more competitive. Daniel Hughes has been impressive in his last two innings while Nic Maddinson finally got out of the 30’s for a well-made 62 last match. Brisbane have lost their last two matches to the dangerous Hobart Hurricanes outfit and will need to bounce back to winning form in this. McCullum continues to look dangerous at the top of the order for the Heat while Steketee and Shah are their key bowlers. Watch out for the TABtouch special right throughout the course of the Big Bash whereby if you place a Match Result bet and your team wins, and 13 or more sixes are scored in the match, you will receive a 50% bonus on your winnings up to $50 (on-line account bets only). TABtouch match result betting sees the Sydney Sixers as the $1.76 favourites while the Brisbane Heat are at $2.08. I have not been a fan of the Sixers in BBL07 however recent team changes and the “no pressure” factor given they can’t play finals leaves them as an attractive proposition in this. Nathan Lyon is a proven match winner with the ball while Hughes has shown in his last 2 innings that he is a man they can bat around to build a strong total. Brisbane’s bowling attack is gettable and with home ground advantage I’ll stick with the Sixers to make it 3 wins in a row. Verdict : I am tipping the Sydney Sixers at $1.76.
