Greg Hooper’s Belmont Top Tips Posted on April 29, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 – PERTH RACING TWITTER PLATE 1300m No. 7 QUILISTA – There looks to be four main chances in this two-year-old event. Happy to go with QUILISTA who really attacked the line with gusto last week. The Belmont Park circuit should suit and the winkers go on. (8) DIRAJA JEWEL will lead and control. (5) LEITFADEN was impressive winner over Diraja Jewel. She can win again. (6) STORED ENERGY has competed strongly in the state’s best two-year-old races. Suggested Bet – Quilista win RACE 2 – SPONSOR A RACE HANDICAP 1200m No. 1 VEGA MAGIC – The return to the track of the very exciting sprinter VEGA MAGIC looks one of the highlights on the card. His first two wins last campaign were totally dominant and he has trialed in terrific order. He should lead and win. (6) RIVER DANCE looks another exciting prospect. His debut win at Pinjarra could not have been more impressive. (4) SHADY GRAY was well supported first-up and won well. (2) BRISANTO improves with the rise to 1200m Suggested Bet – Vega Magic win RACE 3 – JAMES BOAG’S PREMIUM HANDICAP 1000m No. 2 MILITARY REIGN – Classy filly MILITARY REIGN looks a terrific chance to break back into the winners’ circle in this 1000m sprint. She drops 2kg on her last start effort and she should be able to lead and control the speed. (6) EXPRESS DANCER showed plenty of ability last campaign and should finish powerfully with 52kg. (3) BOURNE SUPREMACY beat home Military Reign last start and can do the same again. (4) GIGANTE races well at this track. Suggested Bet – Military Reign win RACE 4 – AMELIA PARK HANDICAP 1600m No. 2 NORTH RIDGE – Happy to be with NORTH RIDGE in this BM78+ handicap. He was a tough winner two starts back and then last week was never a hope in running after enduring a torrid passage. From gate 1 he should box seat and he has a good record at the track. (4) TONTO usually can produce a big fresh run. (5) TARQUINN SHADOW looks the leader. (1) RESPONDENT drops in grade. Suggested Bet – North Ridge win RACE 5 – PERTH RACING MEMBERSHIP PRO-RATA RATE HANDICAP 1400m No. 4 CELEBRITY DREAM – Promising filly CELEBRITY DREAM looks set to post a deserving victory. She was beaten by a smart one last start. Back against her own age group she should be winning. (3) KEY TO FAME raced flat first-up however he can improve sharply particularly if he can lead and control. (6) KLONDIKE KENNY had little luck at Bunbury. His prior effort in a strong race at Pinjarra was good. (8) ROTH DA TOFF will appreciate the rise to 1400m. Suggested Bet – Celebrity Dream win RACE 6 – JAMES BOAG’S PREMIUM HANDICAP 1000m No. 3 RULE TO WYN – This looks an intriguing 1000m sprint. Suspect RULE TO WYN will be over the odds. She flies at this trip and also has a good record at this track. (1) TRAVELLIN’ should get a lovely run just behind the speed and can play a part. (11) PRESENTATIE brings in plenty of ‘x-factor’. Her two win New Zealand were dominant and she recently trialed well. (6) SPIRITUAL EYES can give plenty of cheek on speed with his lightweight. Suggested Bet – Rule To Wyn and Travellin’ RACE 7 – MULTICULTURAL RACEDAY – MAY 14 HANDICAP 1600m No. 6 TANJIER – Keen on the big five-year-old TANJIER. He was a dominant winner two starts back and then had no luck at his most recent outing. The rise to a mile suits and the senior rider goes on. (3) UNIVERSAL LAW looks the main danger. He has raced without luck in both starts this campaign. (11) STAR BAY has claims with his lightweight. (2) WINZA MOMENT can lead and give sight in front. Suggested Bet – Tanjier save Universal Law RACE 8 – TERRACE RESTAURANT – BOOK NOW HANDICAP 1400m No. 6 RUN LIAM RUN – Really tricky race to finish the program. RUN LIAM RUN was incredible when winning the Fitzpatrick Plate at Albany. He should appreciate the rise to 1400m and can break his city duck. (13) SO WHO’S HARRY is flying. His first-up win under 60.5kg was dominant and he drops 6.5kg on that. (8) MILITARY RULER will run well fresh. (2) ZUCCHEROS races well at this circuit and any give out of the track is a plus for him. Suggested Bet – Run Liam Run each-way QUADDIE RACE 5 – 3, 4 RACE 6 – Field RACE 7 – 3, 6 RACE 8 – 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,13 Bet Now
