Greg’s Belmont Best Bets Posted on June 29, 2016June 30, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 CARNELIAN led and ran well in a race which will rate very highly on debut. This looks a lot easier and she should jump straight to the front and be hard to catch. NODUSTONME was caught wide in the same race. He will get a soft run from gate 1 and get every chance. SWEET ORA was well supported on debut back in October where she found some trouble. She resumes with a solid trial win and Pike rides. HEZA SHORE THING was caught wide on debut and battled on solidly. Numbers – 11 – 2 – 12 – 5 Suggested Bet – Carnelian and Nodustonme RACE 2 SO FANCY has been beaten by smart gallopers in her last two starts. If she can hold form she is the one to beat. SCOTTISH TRADER will enjoy the strong upfront speed and finish strongly. POP HERO excels at this trip. CASTLE RETREAT was scratched from Saturday to be saved for this. Numbers – 8 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – So Fancy win RACE 3 GLEN ALBYN did a mountain of work last week did a good job to finish just behind the placegetters. From gate 1 he can either lead or box seat and run a race at odds. NORDIC GEM led and ran well in the same race. NITROUS NANNA showed trialled quite well. COUNT KALA has shown ability and trialled well twice. Numbers – 5 – 11 – 16 – 6 Suggested Bet – Glen Albyn and Nordic Gem RACE 4 CAPRICORN DANCER has run well in all three starts since joining the Justin Warwick stable. From a better draw she should a much softer run than last week and go close. BLACK SMUGGLER has had six weeks since his dominant maiden win. If he produces that type of effort again he’ll go close. HARPOON raced flat on her local debut. She can improve sharply off the quick back up. SECRET DOUBT will box seat and has claims. Numbers – 8 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – Capricorn Dancer win RACE 5 HEY LISTEN is a filly on the rise and she looks very hard to beat. From gate 3 she’ll settle just behind the speed and get every chance for second career win. CHECKERS will work forward from a wide alley and should get a soft run on the speed. ALIGHTING resumes from a light break. She’s a filly on the rise and Pike rides. MYAKE MAK is always a strong place hope in these races. Numbers – 4 – 1 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – Hey Listen win RACE 6 ELLORA MAY produced a career best performance oat this course/distance last start when crossing from her wide gate and coming clear late for a big win. From gate 3 she can lead or breeze and will take a stack of beating. SONG OF WAR clashed with Ellora May on 19 May and finished ¾ length behind her. He meets her on 3kg better weight terms and can win. ATLANTA BLUE enjoyed a nice passage last week and won well. MULGA has some class and has claims even with his 60kg impost. Numbers – 5 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – Ellora May and Song Of War RACE 7 NOBLE SAVAGE has shown ability in his short career to date and the step up to 1400m will suit. Gate 3 looks ideal as he’ll tuck in behind the speed and be able to be produced late. HELLO PARIS is hard to catch but this looks a very winnable race. PENALTY POINT gets a perfect trip from a good draw. PHANTOM CHOICE can lead and give some cheek. Numbers – 3 – 11 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – Noble Savage and Hello Paris RACE 8 THE FORGOTTEN has been hampered by drawing wide gates all campaign. From gate 1 he’ll get a very soft run on the fence and if the gaps appear he’ll take some holding out. IN THIS LIFE disappointed at her last start however she was coming off a five week break. She’s back in grade and will derive plenty of benefit from that run. ANISAU is flying and looks the other winning chance. EMPYREUS can improve with the blinkers going on and the drop back in distance. Numbers – 3 – 2 – 5 -11 Suggested Bet – The Forgotten One and In This Life QUADDIE RACE 5 – 1, 4, 8 RACE 6 – 1, 2, 4, 5 RACE 7 – 3, 8, 11 RACE 8 – 2, 3, 4, 5, 11 Bet Now
