Greg’s Best Bets for Belmont Posted on August 17, 2016August 18, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 BADGE OF COURAGE looks a special to kick off this program. He made his debut in a hot Saturday race where he led and was beaten a tad over a length by some very smart performers. This is a massive drop in class and he should win. RED NOIRE could be the danger. He raced greenly on debut. Pike goes on. MY BROTHER PENCIL should get a lovely run from a good draw. MT CHARLOTTE can improve with the drop back to 1000m. Numbers – 2 – 9 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – Badge Of Courage win RACE 2 Simon Miller will be hopefully shooting for a race to race double with FOUR WHITE FOX. He battled on strongly last start after being wide throughout. The rise to 1400m will suit and Peter Knuckey goes on. MAGIC LAS VEGAS put in a career best effort last start. He can position handier from a wide gate and go close. ANDREINI raced flat first-up. He can improve. BOOM BOOM BANG is limited but should get a pie run from gate 1. Numbers – 13 – 12 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – Four White Fox and Magic Las Vegas RACE 3 BIG CAROLINE is bursting to win a race and this looks a nice assignment. She was caught wide at her most recent outing and battled on well. The rise to 1400m is a query however she is racing like she should run it out. SPECIAL JEWEL is in career best form. She gets a soft run again and Pike retains the ride. SEALED WITH A KISS can improve on his first-up run for the stable. PIRATE’S FORTUNE may lead and give some cheek. Numbers – 6 – 8 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – Big Caroline win RACE 4 FO’ SHIZZLE gets her chance for an overdue win. She drops in class and has drawn to lead of box seat. JESTER ROCK will get off the speed and work home well. If backmarkers are suited he goes close. GOLDBO resumes from a stable for her new trainer Fred Kersley. She hasn’t trialled but has shown ability previously. SHRAVAN can settle on the speed and give a sight. Numbers – 1 – 8 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – Fo’ Shizzle and Jester Rock RACE 5 ENCOMIUM can find the front and give a sight with his light weight. He hasn’t been beaten far at his last two starts. SIXPENCE SPENT is the class runner. The wide gate and the 60kg are the queries. ANOTHER MAORI BOY won his maiden well at his most recent outing. He’s had four weeks between runs but Pike goes on. VANDEMONIUM is always a chance at this level. Numbers – 11 – 1 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – Encomium and Sixpence Spent RACE 6 This race has been decimated by scratchings and RENOWN LADY does now looks terrifically placed to post her third career win. She should tag the likely leader Jewel Sasso and be hard to beat. AMERICAN STAR drops in class and distance. The blinkers also go on. PIC’S PRIDE has a nice turn of foot. She can sprint well fresh. FESTIVE EXCESS next best. Numbers – 8 -2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – Renown Lady win RACE 7 Wide open finish. TOMMI TOOCAN has raced without luck at his two recent starts. Pike goes on and he gets his chance. POWER PACKED is racing well and a win looks close. ECHOES IN TIME just needs some luck from an awkward draw. STAR MOVER broke her maiden well and can go on with the job. Numbers – 3 – 8 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – Tommi Toocan win QUADDIE RACE 4 – 1, 3, 8 RACE 5 – 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 11 RACE 6 – 2, 3, 5, 6 RACE 7 – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 Bet Now
