Greg’s Belmont Best Bets Posted on September 30, 2016October 3, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 First 2YO race of the season. Market is the best guide as always with these races. ACHERNAR STAR hails from a strong stable and has trialled in a strong fashion. LITTLE HERCULES beat home Achernar Star in his trial and looked sharp. THUNDERSTRUT is an expensive type who looked sharp in a 400m trial. TURBO POWER looked OK in his trial effort. Numbers – 1 -2 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – ACHERNAR STAR WIN RACE 2 This looks a really tricky maiden. DAGORLAD has been knocking on the door all campaign. The drop back to 1200m isn’t ideal however he should settle closer from a better gate. CROWDER is another who looks very close to a win. CHEAP EXPRESS will be looking to get a soft run and finish strongly. CLAPPA THUNDER is a serial placegetter. Numbers – 3 – 2 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – DAGORLAD AND CROWDER RACE 3 ROYAL MISSILE won well first-up despite blowing like a gale in betting. If he can improve off that run he can win again. BONNY BE GOOD was narrowly beaten behind Royal Missile last start. Pike on and she looks the danger. NASHVILLE CAT comes from a different form line. He has impressed in both starts and looks the other winning chance. SWEDISH MEMORIES will get off the speed and work home strongly. Numbers – 4 – 9 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – ROYAL MISSILE WIN RACE 4 TRANSGRESSOR should burn over from his wide gate and if he can find the breeze without using too much fuel he’ll get his chance for his first city win. AGARCHAR CRUZ ran well fresh off an 11 month break. He improves off that run, leads and is the one to catch. BRACKETS is racing well and looks the other chance. ROGER THE ROMAN finds it hard to win but he will finish powerfully. Numbers – 10 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – TRANSGRESSOR SAVE AGARCHAR CRUZ RACE 5 UNIVERSAL LAW is suited over further however he has the necessary turn of foot and power to go very close to gobbling these up. AUDIENCE is very speedy and looks the leader. She can give a big sight with only 51kg after the claim for Sarah Bonner. GIGANTE will park just behind the speed and has claims. ANTIQUE DREAM can run a race fresh. Numbers – 6 – 9 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – UNIVERSAL LAW WIN RACE 6 FATHOMS OF GOLD has been in superb form this campaign and if he was ridden more positively he probably beats the subsequent Kalgoorlie Cup runner up last start. He’ll press forward and Autier will likely test them a long way from home. MIDNIGHT BANQUET will be suited with a genuinely run race as he is grinding stayer. PROXY steps up in trip for the first time this campaign. He’s a proven stayer. QUEEN OF TEASE next best. Numbers – 3 – 8 – 2 – 12 Suggested Bet – FATHOMS OF GOLD WIN RACE 7 WINK AND A NOD looks thrown in at the weights for this feature sprint. Pike takes over and if she is within striking distance when they corner she’ll take plenty of holding out. IDEAL IMAGE is a classy mare who does race well fresh. SCALES OF JUSTICE and GREAT SHOT are very promising four-year-olds. Numbers – 2 – 4 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – WINK AND A NOD WIN RACE 8 This looks a race in two between INFATHUATED and CRONKITE. I’m going for CRONKITE who is yet to state defeat for the Williams Team. He did it comfortably last start when coming off a 8 week break. He improves off that run and should get a lovely run from a good draw. INFATHUATED is off a quick back-up after narrowly going down last week. He rises in weight but Harvey goes on. ALL TOO MUCH can lead and give a sight. FO’ SHIZZLE will box seat from gate 1. Numbers – 4 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – CRONKITE SAVE INFATHUATED SuperPick - Race 8 No. 4 CRONKITE - Money Back – Run 2nd QUADDIE RACE 5 – 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9 RACE 6 – 2, 3, 8, 12 RACE 7 – 2, 3, 4, 10 RACE 8 – 1, 4 Bet Now
