Ascot 5 December – Thoroughbreds Preview Posted on December 4, 2015December 9, 2015 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 – $100,000 LISTED ASCEND SALES TROPHIES AQUANITA STAKES 1800m No. 6 ARCADIA DREAM – Classy filly ARCADIA DREAM looks post her first black type success in this very mediocre running of the Aquanita Stakes. She has competed with distinction in all the best 3YO races this season and she meets a group of horses who look more suited in midweek level. (4) BATTLE TORQUE should get it soft in front. He can run a race. (1) FREMOND was caught wide last week and was still too strong. (2) SAXOPHONIST will appreciate the 1800m. Suggested Bet – Arcadia Dream win RACE 2 – $150,000 GROUP III SIR ERNST LEE-STEERE CLASSIC 1400m No. 5 LITE’N IN MY VEINS – This is another very moderate feature three-year-old race. For that reason happy to speculate on the debutante LITE’N IN MY VEINS. He has impressed in all trial efforts and he gives the impression the 1400m will suit. (6) LET IT SLIP won the Placid Ark in an impressive fashion. (3) YOSHI NOXIOUS will run out the trip strongly. (2) PUSHIN’ SHAPES indicated he is nearing a return to form at his most recent outing. Suggested Bet – Lite’n In My Veins each-way RACE 3 – PROFESSIONAL GRANGER CLARK HANDICAP 1400m No. 6 DARK ALERT – This looks one of the more open races of the day. DARK ALERT dug deep to beat an inform horse at his most recent start. If Pike can find some cover from his wide gate he is the one to beat again. (10) OUR FINEST MOMENT was huge in defeat a fortnight back when making a heap of ground late ground on a leader dominated day. (11) LIBERTY RISE wasn’t suited at her most recent start. She can bounce back. (7) TARQUINN SHADOW is another who was a complete forgive run on Super Saturday. Suggested Bet – Dark Alert and Our Finest Moment RACE 4 – PERTH CUP JANUARY 2 HANDICAP 1400m No. 12 LUNAR ECLIPSE – This looks a wide open race. LUNAR ECLIPSE attacked the line fresh and then had no luck a fortnight back and was another runner clearly not suited under the conditions. He’ll settle off the speed and if they are making ground he’ll be hard to hold out. (5) OUR FINEST MOMENT was one of the biggest runs of the day. He should get much more suitable conditions on Saturday. (3) HOBART JONES broke a long drought at his last start and has claims again. (9) COSMIC STORM will appreciate the rise to 1400m. Suggested Bet – Lunar Eclipse each-way RACE 5 – $100,000 LISTED G.A. TOWTON CUP 2200m No. 1 REBELSON – The majority of these had their last start in the Tatts Cup. REBELSON was set a big task in that event and did a good job to be beaten 1.5L. Pike goes on which is a big plus and if he can get some cover in running and not over race he goes very close. (10) WHO’S TO BLAME continues to find the line. She can win. (2) YOUNG LIONEL is in career best form and he’ll look the winner somewhere in the straight. (4) ASK ME NICELY was another forgive run on Super Saturday and could be the one to is over the odds. Suggested Bet- Rebelson 1 win / 2 places RACE 6 – $100,000 LISTED JUNGLE DAWN CLASSIC 1400m No. 4 IDEAL IMAGE – This looks a perfect assignment for the talented mare IDEAL IMAGE. She was terrific first-up when taking plenty of late ground off the speedy Shiedel. The step up in trip is ideal and she should box seat from barrier 1. (7) FASHION PRINCESS looks the danger. If her more fancied stablemate does get strung up on the fence and in trouble she could be the one. (6) KEYSBROOK can run a race fresh. (3) COOL TRADE is racing well below her best but will appreciate the drop in class. Suggested Bet – Ideal Image win RACE 7 – $100,000 LISTED R.S. CRAWFORD STAKES 1000m No. 11 SILVERSTREAM – They should fly along in this sprint with noted speedsters engaged. Think the closers will have it and hoping it will be the lightly weighted mare SILVERSTREAM. She ran well in the Winterbottom and from her good draw she can probably settle a tad closer than she has been. She will be hard to hold out. (10) MALIBU STYLE could be the blowout chance. He’s been luckless in both runs and is a 1000m specialist. (1) SHINING KNIGHT can win despite the heavy weight impost. (6) SHIEDEL will lead and is the one to run down. Suggested Bet – Silverstream and Malibu Style RACE 8 – $1,000,000 GROUP I TABTOUCH KINGSTON TOWN CLASSIC 1800m No. 16 PERFECT REFLECTION – This is the race of the carnival and one the best races the state has seen in many a year. I’m keen on the star filly PERFECT REFLECTION. She could be anything. Her four wins have been outstanding and she possesses a devastating turn of foot. Quality three-year-olds have a top record in this event. (4) MAGIC ARTIST is all class. He should have won the Mackinnon and then ran well in the Emirates. (10) REAL LOVE was no hope with the track bias in the Railway. (11) DELICACY was in the same boat as Real Love. Suggested Bet – Keen on Perfect Reflection RACE 9 – AMELIA PARK HANDICAP 1200m No. 11 KING OF WU – This is as wide a race you’ll find. I’m going for the closers. KING OF WU was good first-up when being edged out by a horse on top of his game. Douglas Whyte goes on and he should finish powerfully. (9) HEAVY SET is a very capable sprinter with a big finish. (12) NEXT CONTESTANT can run a race fresh. (8) TIGER PETE will settle at the rear and finish strongly. Suggested Bet – King Of Wu and Heavy Set QUADDIE RACE 6 – 4, 7 RACE 7 – 1, 6, 7, 10, 11 RACE 8 – 2, 4, 10, 11, 13, 16 RACE 9 – 8, 9, 11, 12, 13 Bet Now
